Chapter 7: y/n

Timeskip to when his family arrived because I am lazy~

I stopped to take a break from picking tufts from the truffula trees with the forest creatures. I sat down beside the Lorax, who had continued to place each tuft gently in a bag.

The ground started shaking, causing me to snap my eyes open and I jumped to my feet. The Lorax followed me to the house where Once walked out, smiling broadly.

"They're here!" He said scooping me into a hug. He set me down and straightened his clothes, and standing tall.

I frowned slightly at that but shrugged it off, as I did the same, making myself look presentable to my boyfriend's family.

A rinky-dink van swerved precariously through the trees and stopped right in front of the house. I leaned back in surprise and felt Once's hand slip around my waist. For security or to keep me balanced, I don't know. I leaned a bit closer to him, and the Lorax placed a hand on my leg, and we shared a look.

The van opened and a very wide set man? Woman? Appeared from the van. "What a dump." They said grouchy. That's great. I thought sourly. A complete grouch.

"Aunt Griselda!" Once exclaimed throwing his hands in the air. Aunt? That's a woman? I didn't wanna be rude but that was a woman?

The next people to exit the van were two identical boys, who had some resemblance to Once. They laughed and tossed around a barbaloot. I winced slightly, taking a step back, the Lorax moving with me.

I was so focused on the twins, that I didn't realize the next two people exit until one spoke. "Oncie is that you?" A voice said. I looked over to see a blonde woman in a frilly lavender blouse and blue jeans skirt and boots. She had a fox carcass draped across her shoulders like a scarf. I felt sick.

She wakes over to Once and squeezed his cheeks, giving him kisses on his cheeks. "There's my suddenly successful son!" She said.

His supposedly uncle leaped up and wrapped his tiny arms around Once's neck. "I love this guy!" He exclaimed.

Once laughed, slightly hurtful. "I thought you said I would never amount to anything.." he said sadly. I felt my heart break hearing his voice.

The mother dismissed him with a wave of her hand. "Oh you hush up now. I was only trying to motivate you." I could feel anger rising within my core, but I took a deep breath to calm myself. No need to pick a fight now.

"Who's that?" Aunt Griselda asked in her burly voice. I saw everyone's eyes turn and face me. I froze not liking the sudden attention I was getting.

Once smiled reassuringly as he approached me and wrapped his arm around my shoulders giving me a side hug. "Family, this is my girlfriend, y/n. Y/N, this is my family; Aunt Griselda; uncle ubb; Bret and Chet, and my mother Isabella." He said pointing to everyone as he introduced them.

I smiled really nervous. "Hello it's nice to meet you!" I said trying to force myself to feel as cheerful as I sounded.

Half the family stuck their noses up at me. Namely Isabella, Chet and aunt Griselda. Bret and uncle ubb, smiled welcoming. "It's nice to meet such a lovely girl." Uncle ubb said, reaching out to shake my hand. I shook it with a smile.

Once laughed and clapped his hands, which I flinched at bit quickly recovered. He was about to say something when the Lorax stepped up, seemingly done with this little odd meeting.

"Hold up, nobody move, no one's moving in here. You gotta go, goodbye." He said stepping between us, looking at once's family.

Aunt Griselda and the Lorax started firing mean words at each other. The got ready to fight and before once could stop them I jumped in between them.
