In the peculiar situationship between number two pro hero Hawks and League of Villains- now Paranormal Liberation Front- member Dabi, Dabi has always been in charge. It's unusual for Hawks to have to deal with, but alas, Dabi is the one with the information, so he's calling the shots. Hawks is nothing more than a desperate spy trying to put the pieces of a puzzle together so he can protect the public from the attack that the PLF are sure to launch in the next four months. He has no leverage, nothing that these monsters want that they don't already have.

His heart beats fast as Dabi walks with him through the mansion that houses the most important members of the villainous movement. Hawks has never been this far in the house before, told that he's not allowed to be because he's such a low-ranking member of the organization; because they don't trust him yet. They're not wrong in lacking faith in him. Why would he give up the luxurious life that being number two gives him to become a villain? Because he's some sort of martyr who believes in their cause? Yeah, right. As much as he wants them to believe that, it's not true. The only ones that Hawks has convinced are Twice (that poor, trusting, gullible, unlucky man) and some of the backstabbing heroes who've joined that were already familiar with him.

The rest seem to look at him with suspicion no matter how hard he tries to blend in and be convincing. The only reason he hasn't been thrown out entirely is because of the plan he and Best Jeanist concocted to fake the number three hero's death. Now, all of the lieutenants are convinced that Hawks is willing to kill other heroes to use as potential Nomus.

The only one who seems not to believe in that is Dabi himself.

Hawks sighs as the two walk together. He's been talking Dabi's ear off for the past two minutes, trying to connect with him in any way that he can. He's done everything from asking about his family (immediate change of subject), his favorite color (gold, apparently, but that was a very dry answer), his favorite food (soba), and his reason for joining the cause (because he wants to put an end to the society of fake heroes, which is the same bullshit that most of them spew; nothing passionate, nothing special, just obsessed with chaos and destruction). Each and every response has been cold and uncaring, determined to keep Hawks out.

Instinctually, one of Hawks's wings flutes outwards to wrap around Dabi and protect him from the side. Hawks wishes his fiery red wings wouldn't betray him like this, but they tend to give his emotions away and he can't help that. He doesn't love that Dabi is a villain. He does, unfortunately, love Dabi.

"Don't act all chummy with me," Dabi suddenly snaps and pulls open the door to an unknown bedroom. Hawks briefly wonders if he's about to get murdered, but he walks into the room anyway and allows Dabi to shut and lock the door behind them. "We aren't friends."

"Aw, really? I thought we were making some progress!" Hawks complains with a smile, though Dabi's scolding does hurt his feelings. He wants them to be friends; he wants them to be more than friends, too. It's stupid. He shouldn't be this attached to a man who probably wants him dead, let alone to a man who he's going to have to betray in a few weeks' time. "Why don't you like me, man?"

"You're clearly not loyal to this cause," Dabi points out for the millionth time since Hawks started this mission. The dirty-blond listens intently and leans his back against the wall in an attempt to pick up on any sound vibrations from neighboring rooms with his wings. Everything is surprisingly silent; no one nearby is talking, so there's no information for him to pick up here. Disappointing... Looking around, he quickly realizes that this must be Dabi's bedroom. Why the hell has Dabi brought him here of all places? "I don't care what Twice or anyone else says; you're a two-timing liar who's just here to weasel information out of us, and you're more committed to being a puppet for the public than you are to being yourself."
