Yang and I woke up at the exact same time. She seemed kind of annoyed, not really a morning person, but started making breakfast.
"Uh, actually, sensei said I couldn't eat breakfast today," I told her. She turned angrily.
"What! Who is this guy!? Is he causing you problems already!?" She yelled, surprising me with her newfound energy.
"No no, it's not like that! Kakashi sensei said it's part of our test, he's my group's sensei!"
"Oh, gotcha. Well, good luck!" Yang said, continuing to cook. I laughed awkwardly.
"Right..I think I'll head out then. I'll see you later!" Yang waved at me as I started walking out. I'll probably be early, but at least I won't have to watch Yang torture me T~T.
I skipped along the path, hoping the training grounds we used before were the ones we're using today. A few blocks ahead I ended up bumping into Sasuke. "Morning, Sasuke!" I smiled. If I can't get along with my team, I know there'll be problems.
He nodded to acknowledge me. I walked with him in silence.
"Where are you going?" He asked, which made me stop and look at him.
"Isn't this the way?"
"No..that's the path to the fourth training ground. Ours is up ahead more."
I hung my head, "oh-." I started to walk back with him. He rolled his eyes, but stayed focused on the path afterward.
Naruto and Sakura were already there, and they both looked exhausted. I guess I wasn't as early as I thought, but it doesn't matter anyway since I know Kakashi is always late.
Sakura's face lit up when she saw Sasuke, but fell into a glare when she saw me. I waved awkwardly, just wanting to put it all behind me.
We waited for hours, until Kakashi sensei finally came. "YOU'RE LATE!" Sakura and Naruto yelled out.
"Well a black cat crossed my path, so I had to take the long route," Kakashi replied with a smile, obviously lying. "Anyway, this clock is set to noon," he put an alarm clock on a stump. "You each have to get a bell before the timer goes off. If you fail to complete the task, you will go without lunch. You'll be tied to a stump and watch as I eat my lunch in front of you," He showed us the three bells. I groaned, not really wanting to try since I know that my teammates probably won't ever be a.. well, team. While I feel as though I could be capable of it alone, I don't want to let the others behind. There's got to be a way..
Naruto started laughing at sensei. "This should be easy! Especially since you couldn't dodge that eraser! HAHAHA!" He said.
"Class clowns are always the weakest links. Low scores, losers," Kakashi replied. Naruto got mad at him and immediately stopped laughing. "Alright, we begin when I say start."
Naruto ran at Kakashi with a kunai, but was easily and swiftly stopped. "Hey, now.. I didn't say start yet." Sasuke and Sakura stepped back from surprise, but I stayed, only pouting deeper. Kakashi let Naruto free to glumly walk back and stand with us. "Ready... start!" Sensei yelled. I used my semblance to quickly escape from the area, looking around a clearing I found myself in.
Maybe I should find someone to work with? Ugh, but who would actually want to..? I wish Yang were here...
I plopped down and crossed by legs, deciding to just wing it if someone finds me. Even if it was Kakashi. I rested a pouty cheek on a hand and started picking at the blades of grass by me bored. A few moments of silence passed before I heard Sakura scream. A few minutes after, I heard Sasuke scream, then I saw a shadow clone of Kakashi walk into the clearing in front of me. I lifted my head off my hand and smiled. "I was getting kind of lonely, thanks for coming by, sensei!" I guised myself, searching for where he really is. Kakashi chuckled, giving a moment of silence for me. It made me thankful, because, in that moment, I found him. "Well, seems time's almost up! I might as well just throw in the towel," I stood up, dusting my clothes off. I looked at the clone and smirked, "See you in a second, sensei!"
I used my semblance to run up behind Kakashi, who was hiding in a second clearing a bit away from mine. I grabbed the three bells from him as he hesitated, surprised I found him so quickly. I laughed victoriously, "I got the bells~!" I taunted, then ran towards the clearing before he could break out of his stupor. Unless he was just pretending, but I didn't want to think of that possibility, too busy basking in my glow of marvelousness. I barely stopped by the time I arrived, bursting into laughter. "Naruto, what did you do!?"
"Shut up, Ruby! How'd you get here so quick anyway!?"
"It's my specialty, I guess," I smiled, sitting down beside him. He struggled a bit against the ropes he was tied in. Ignoring the slight haze I felt, I used Crescent Rose to cut him free. "Here," I mumbled, handing him a bell. "I figure you want to be ninja really bad so.. why be stopped here?"
Naruto stared at the bell with stunned eyes, which he turned into a big smile aimed at me. You mean it!? Thanks a lot!!"
Sasuke and Sakura finally came, and so did Kakashi. "Well done, Ruby. You're the only student who got the bells. However, that made you miss an important lesson I was trying to teach, meaning you fail anyway," Kakashi smiled at me innocently, which I returned.
"I don't think so, sensei," I said sweetly, holding out the bells to my two sides. My haziness had increased, but I ignored it once again, figuring I'll eat soon enough anyway. "The lesson was teamwork.. which I knew we couldn't accomplish.. I grabbed all the bells to keep my squad-mates alive, though, which I personally classify as a form of teamwork.."
Sasuke clicked his tongue, turning his head from me, "Idiot, if that's the case then I'm not accepting your stupid self-sacrifice."
Sakura nodded, "Me neither! You could have at least asked before making our decisions for us!"
I pouted, "But you would have refused my help because you're emo.. and you would have refused because he refused.. just take my gift.." I started to feel a bit tired, resting my head on my hand to try to ease the feeling.
Sakura noticed, seeming to actually look a bit concerned. "Uh.. Ruby? Why are you acting like that? You're not gonna puke are you?"
"Please just accept the bells so we can eat.." I cried cartoon tears as I held out my shaking hands to them. Sasuke sighed and shook his head before grabbing the bell, leading Sakura to do the same.
Kakashi looked at me intensely as I rested my head in my lap. I couldn't marvel at how flexible I figured out I was because he started passing out food.
"I guess you did get the bells, and I did say that allowed you to pass. I'll keep my word," Kakashi started, handing out the lunches. "Don't eat too quick, you'll puke- Ruby?" He nudged the silent girl, looking at her closed eyes. Her skin gradually started to get paler, "Ah.. not good."
Woooow, oh noo, totally don't know what's gonna happen next! *cries internally*
Anyway, I hope I didn't make the pass-out scene as abrupt, as cliché, or as cheesy as it used to be. Even a millimeter of improvement was the goal..-Thanks for reading, fam, it's cool of you ahahah-
