Twenty nine - Taylor

Recording songs for a new album always felt tedious, but days like today made all of the long ones worth every second. Taylor had been at the studio a little under three hours and had recorded three of the songs she was most excited for. Days like this always seemed like a small piece of heaven on Earth. She had a meeting in a few minutes about plans for the album release, but even that was perfect. She hadn't actually thought they would even entertain the idea of putting out new music.

When all that was done she would go home to Emma and they would watch the newest episode of Grey's Anatomy while curled up on the couch with some kind of takeout. She pulled her phone out of her pocket to check the time and saw a few new notifications. Only one mattered enough to warrant a response.

Emma:
What time will you be home? I miss youuuu.

Taylor:
I'll be home as soon as I can after this meeting. I miss you too.

Emma:
Tell your label to fuck off and come home to your wonderful girlfriend. I'm lonely. I've been here all by myself. All day.

Taylor:
I'll see you tonight. I love you.

Emma:
But I will have already gotten old and forgotten about you by then.

Taylor:
Two hours tops. Promise. I love you.

Emma:
Fine

Taylor rolled her eyes and went back to spinning around in the chair while waiting for the others to come into the room. She knew they were all sitting outside. Every meeting was the same in regards to punctuality. They never came in until right on time or later. Obviously someone had never learned that to be early was to be on time and to be on time was to be late. It was alright though, it just meant that she had time before every meeting to spin around the conference room like a child on crack.

When everyone finally came into the room it was almost twenty past three, which wouldn't have annoyed her that much if she hadn't known they were standing right outside the door. Hell, she made eye contact with Scott and he acknowledged her with a weird, very unprofessional, bro nod. He was just standing outside talking about football, it wasn't like he was doing something important.

The meeting was ten minutes long and absolutely frivolous. More time was spent waiting for someone to walk in the room than in the actual meeting. The entire conversation could have been summed up in a three sentence email with the subject line 'only read if you want to waste an hour of your life.' Unfortunately, the men around her did not care in the slightest if they were wasting her time, even when they were wasting their own as well. It was very stupid and extremely annoying every single time.

It was fine though. Emma would be at home and they would have a wonderful night. Emma still hadn't agreed to move in, but she had started to call Taylor's apartment home more often than not. She had stopped saying let's go to your place and started saying let's go home, something that made Taylor happier than she ever thought the word could.

When Taylor got home Emma was asleep on the couch with a blanket covering her entire body and head. The television was on and playing the newest episode of Criminal Minds. Someone was screaming in the background while someone else waved a weapon around the air. It really amazed Taylor how Emma could be so paranoid and still watch this show to help her sleep. Taylor turned the TV off and Emma stirred slightly. She groaned and rolled over while mumbling something.
