Thirty one - Taylor

Ever since Emma moved in, the days recording at the studio seemed even longer than before. Something about knowing that she was waiting for her to come home made the minutes go by like hours, but it was all okay when she got home to Emma. Every single time she would run up and kiss Taylor on the lips before wrapping her up in a hug and staying like that for a few minutes. It didn't matter what she was doing, the reaction was always the same.

Today when she got home Emma wasn't in the living room, kitchen, or bedroom. Taylor opened the door to the only other room Emma spent a lot of time in and found her sitting next to a canvas that had slowly been turning into a replication of a couples first kiss at a wedding. She was looking back and forth between the canvas and a printed out picture that was taped to the wall next to her. She had on bulky pink headphones that made it nearly impossible to hear anything other than what was playing through them, leaving the perfect opportunity for Taylor to sneak up behind her.

Emma's head whipped around the second Taylor's arms wrapped around her. The best part of days like this was the moment that Emma realized Taylor was home and her whole face lit up. "How attached are you to that shirt?"

"Not very. Why?" Taylor looked down and shrugged. Emma didn't answer. Instead she wrapped her arms around Taylor and squeezed the life out of her. There might have been blotches of pinks and yellows on her now, but she didn't care. "That's coming along well. How long have you been working on it today?"

"Few hours. Since lunch I think."

"Did you eat something? I can make us some dinner."

"I did, but dinner would be lovely. What are you making?"

"Actually I lied. I'm not cooking."

Emma stared at her for a minute before saying anything. "Well I can make something. Or we can pick something up. What are you in the mood for?"

"I really want this restaurant a few blocks from here. They have an amazing crab cake. I swear it's the best crab cake you'll ever eat."

Emma pulled her phone out and started to look at restaurants near them trying to figure out which one Taylor was talking about, but she came up empty. "What's it called? I can call and order if you tell me what you want."

"I was actually thinking we could go there to eat."

"Oh. You want to go out and eat. Are you sure?"

"I am one hundred and thirteen percent sure. They have a room where it will just be the two of us but we can go out and eat." Emma slowly nodded and Taylor clapped her hands together like a giddy schoolgirl. "I'm so happy you agreed because I already made the reservation. It'll be so fun. I haven't eaten in a restaurant in way too long."

"What time's the reservation?"

"In an hour."

"Taylor! You can't make dinner plans and not tell me until an hour before, I have to get ready."

"Just go like this. You already look perfect." Taylor smiled and pulled her into another hug.

"You sweet talking little minx. Move and let me get ready so I don't look like I'm showing up to some fancy restaurant in painted dungarees."

Taylor started to laugh so hard she had to wrap her arms around her stomach. "What did you just say?"

"You heard me. Shut up and move." Taylor watched as Emma walked away, only for her to call out seconds later. "What the hell am I supposed to wear, Tay?"
