5 A Matter of Necessity

"Vi, give me a piece of paper. I need to talk to you."

My sister tilts her head, perplexed by my request. Anyway, she tears a page from the middle of her homework notebook and hands it to me, along with a pen. Having returned from my part-time dishwashing job, I still have enough energy to engage in this conversation. I settle on our bed and draw a circle on the paper using her pen.

Vi leans closer, curious to see what I'm up to. "What's that? A meatball?"

"A meatball, seriously? No, this represents the time period we're living in!"

"A-ha. A time period. What's next?"

With a red pen this time, I draw another circle atop the previous one. "I feel like the world has witnessed this scenario countless times before."

"That's crazy! I mean, you're the only one who can turn back time in this world. Maybe you've done it so many times that it's messing with your head. No worries, sis! By the way, did you manage to save P'Four today? How did it go? Was she cool or nice to you?"

"Come on! Give me a break! This is a serious matter!" I can't help but release a deep sigh. Perhaps this déjà vu effect is a consequence of time reversal. Vi's suggestion might hold some truth. "How could she be nice to me!? She is as mean as everyone says."

She even pulled a pizza order scam. She's not just wicked; she's wickedly good at it!

"Don't judge a book by its cover, sis."

"Hmmm, why don't you go talk to her yourself? Her personality is anything but eco-friendly." Only her deep eyes possess a hint of allure. That's all.

"She might have a difficult past. That's why she expresses herself that way..."

"Screw it! I bet she's been getting on people's nerves and earning loads of hate. You better take another good look at your sketch. Are you sure it's really her?"

"It's definitely her. Otherwise, how would I know that she would break her leg today?"

"..." True enough.

"But she didn't break her leg, did she? I'm sure you helped her. Now spill the beans; how did it go?"

In the end, I couldn't resist my only sister and divulge what I said to P'Four. I also mention that P'Four decided not to start the race as a way to make up for the pizza order, so we're no longer indebted to each other (at least that's my assumption). Somehow, Vi finds the story romantic.

Romantic?

Standing in tears before a stranger, pleading with her not to join the race... and that's considered 'romantic'? How did I never realize it before?

While waiting for my lovely personal chef to prepare dinner, my Facebook timeline displays images and captions reporting how P'Four stood motionless at the starting point during the race.

The post was shared by Kavee. Many students and outsiders are reveling in posting heated comments. They criticize P'Four for her audacity to participate in the race from the beginning.

That strangely hurts me too, perhaps because I was the one who begged her.

'She went insane! I heard her yelling at the audience in the grandstands too. She probably wanted to slap the athletes, just like before.'

A comment makes me furrow my eyebrows. No, there are actually many of them.

'I thought she only picked fights with volleyball players. Now, she wants to quarrel with runners?'
