QUANTICO, VIRGINIA

IT HAD ALREADY BEEN A MONTH. Athena had settled into the bureau quickly. Everyone in BAU was a big fan of her, especially Emily Prentiss. But one person wasn't a fan of the new Agent Carter, that person being Section Chief Erin Strauss. Strauss had referred to Athena as a charity case but Hotch and Rossi ignored her.

"Checkmate" Athena said with a smirk knocking over Spencer's chess piece.

"What?" Reid questioned his voice going high pitch staring at the board in awe. "How? I saw it in three"

"And I saw it one" She shrugged, hiding the same proud smirk on her face. Reid blinked, still staring at the chessboard. Morgan chuckled ruffling Spencer's hair.

"Admit pretty boy. You were beaten by the newbie" Morgan teased. Spencer stood up from his seat mumbling something under his breath before walking away.

"I'm not a newbie anymore, I've working here for over a month" Athena said to Morgan in an unamused tone.

"Hmm. you're still a newbie" Amy spoke up spinning on her chair. Athena rolled her eyes before noticing Emily sitting at her desk.

"Hey, Prentiss. You wanna play?" Athena asked the woman as Emily glanced up from her paperwork.

"No, I'm good" She replied quickly shifting back to the papers in front of her.

"I don't think she likes me much" Athena suggested to the other two agents. Before the other agents could reply JJ walked in holding case files in her arms.

"We've got a case" She told the team walking past them.

"Damn it" Morgan mumbled under his breath.

"Charles Luvet was found floating in a Miami marina last night. Local M.E. thinks that he was only in the water for about an hour" JJ explained showing pictures of the body on TV.

"Any attempt to weigh the body down?" Agent Hotchner asked.

"Doesn't appear to be"

"Well, the dumping could be convenient as opposed to a means of hiding the crime" Morgan suggested with the files sat in front of him.

"Well, he's the third victim found in Miami over the last two months" JJ said showing the other men's bodies. "Though the locations of the bodies are different many of the elements are the same. All males, 25 to 35, all travelling, all asphyxiated with no signs of sexual assault" as the team flipped through their files

"But tourists could mean just simple robbery" Carter suggested looking at the screen

"Well, there are some personal items missing"
