CHAPTER TWELVE

However, a strange thing occurred a short while after they left.

The king used to spend some alone time in a quiet area of the palace's garden. He gave the order that no one should enter for the next few hours so that he could sit by himself. He asked for food and drink to be brought over there. He took a seat on the bench and thought back on the lovely memories. He juggled feelings of joy and sadness.

His thoughts were interrupted when a voice called him. He turned around to see Padma holding a tray filled with food and water. He was amazed to see her.

"Greetings, your majesty," she said as she placed the tray and started to serve them. He asked out of curiosity, "Why are you doing this? Isn't there anybody else to do them? I don't remember you saying that you help with the service."

She responded, "Your majesty, I apologise if I violated. I thought of helping my friend. She wasn't feeling well, and I insisted on doing her task."

Taeho replied, "No, there's no need to seek an apology. I was just asking. So, then, how is your life here? I know you people had the best life at Uncle Yaswant's place. We are delighted to accommodate such a talented group of people. I hope you enjoy living here."

"Your majesty, there is no doubt that we had the best life back in India

"Your majesty, there is no doubt that we had the best life back in India. We wanted to explore new cultures, and that brought us here. And honestly, we are happy here. The natives are already like our family members," she replied.

"Good to hear that. And speaking of your performance the other day, it was full of grace. I wonder how all the people from India are this talented."

"Thank you your majesty for your words of appreciation. But I would like to add to that statement if it doesn't offend you. The performance was a mix of both cultures. The success came only because of unity, and I am deeply thankful to my group members who stayed united. It all happened because of our minds working together."

"I agree to that. And I hope for greater innovation in the future," the king replied.

They continued to talk for a while. She had a strong command over many topics, so he was delighted to hear her speak. She is unquestionably gifted in many different areas.
