Ch24: Emperor Rudra

I awaken to the feeling of someone running their fingers along my chest. Opening my eyes reveals Velzard's ocean-blue eyes staring into mine. 

Velzard: I was hoping I'd get to watch you sleep longer.

Me: Then perhaps you should have skipped running your fingers against my skin.

Velzard: Can you blame me? You're unnaturally perfect. Even now I-

Leaning forward, I cut her words off with a kiss causing her to blush profusely. Grinning, I lean back to take in her look.

Me: You're equally as perfect.

She gets even redder. It'd almost be hard to believe this same girl tried to take my head recently. It hasn't exactly been long since I entered this world or came into contact with her and Guy. Speaking of, though Raphael did mention the details surrounding her relationship with the latter...I wonder if she harboured any hidden feelings for him.

Velzard: What are you thinking about?

Me: Hmmm? Not much...just the possibility of our marriage.

Velzard: M-m-marriage?

Her body starts radiating heat.

Me: I mean, that was the deal was it not? If you can prove to me that you are worth the hassle then I'd marry you.

Velzard: B-

Me: It makes sense that I should at least think about it in case you actually succeed-

She slaps me in the chest at that. The blow is so powerful the bed collapses from the pressure but it's hardly more than a little tingle to me.

Me: Hey-

Velzard: You can be ruthless sometimes, you know that?

Me: Huh?

Velzard: Learn to read a girl's feelings!

She storms out of the room before I'm able to respond but before I can give chase, Souei contacts me, informing me that the Eastern Empire's forces have started to advance on the Great Forest of Jura and that Luminous has gone to meet them...alone.

Without even informing Velzard of my impending departure, I quickly get dressed. Luckily, for her, she chooses then to return and upon seeing me getting dressed she begins apologising, likely thinking I'm mad at her. It takes some convincing but eventually, with Raphael's help, I'm able to convince her that I'm leaving for another reason and she elects to come along.

We arrive via teleportation magic to the sight of Veldora and Milim both beaten and everyone else trying to tend to them. 

Me: What happened?

Benimaru: Lady Luminous-

Velzard: Brother, you lost to a vampire?

Veldora: What do you want me to do? It's not like I can hurt her!

Velzard opens her mouth to protest but quickly closes it as she realises he has a point. Knowing Luminous, if she has made up her mind the only way to stop her from doing it is to overpower her and there is no plausible way to do that without her getting hurt as she'll go as far as to hurt herself to succeed. It makes sense that Veldora would therefore choose to have her beat him up over laying a finger on her but why is Milim also beaten? Anyways...

Me: I appreciate you trying, at the very least. Most likely bought us time to catch up with her.

Milim: Rimuru!
