15. Solution

[scara's pov]

I woke up earlier than usual and saw heizou's hands wrapped around my waist. I pushed him away, still feeling angry from last night. Even though I liked the feeling of his hands on me, I wasn't just gonna let him pretend like nothing happened.

I got up and went to take a shower, and after I did, I started to search for job options. Mona was probably lying anyway. Why would I even attempt being a detective. They could arrest me at any time for my fatui records, but then again.. I really didn't wanna go back to my previous job.

As I sat back in bed, I pulled out my phone and started checking, but every single time I found a high-paying job, it was either too late to be working or just too much work. And since I was lazy, I wasn't going to just work for 15+ hours just to get a couple thousand mora.

Heizou gripped onto my waist tightly than usual, which made me uncomfortable. I tried pushing him away, but he didn't let go. I started to tap him on his shoulders so he could wake up and let go of me.

"Heizou, let go." I mumbled.

"Wha..?" Heizou rubbed his eyes.

I pushed him away and started searching for jobs again.

"Scara.." Heizou yawned.

"What." I sighed

"Scara.."

"I said what?" I groaned.

Heizou turned the other way and fell asleep again. I rolled my eyes and continued searching.

*time skip*

It was 3:35 p.m., and still, I had no luck. I knew I had to ask Heizou about being a detective. It was my only hope. I walked downstairs to find Heizou watching TV.

"Shouldn't you be at work?" I asked.

"Shouldn't you have a job?" Heizou mumbled.

"I'm not trying to start this again.. I just have a question." I sighed.

"Which is?" Heizou looked at me.

"Do you think that maybe I could work with you as a detective?" I asked.

Heizou looked at me and started laughing.

"What!? You? A detective? Do you want to get arrested for your fatui records?"

"I know! That's what I was thinki- I mean, they won't know?" I shrugged.

"Well, um.. I don't know, scara, you can ask my boss??" Heizou mumbled.

"Today?" I questioned.

"Sure, I can take you there. If you want, of course.." Heizou responded, standing up.

"Alright. Thanks, I guess.." I replied.

Heizou nodded and walked outside, I followed him. As we both got into the car, it was silent. No one spoke.

"So.. why do you wanna be a detective all of a sudden?" Heizou questioned.

"Well, I just thought I'd give it a try." I lied.

"Oh.. mkay." Heizou slightly smiled.

*time skip*

"We're here!" Heizou yawned, getting out of the car.

I stepped out of the car and saw a large building in front of me.

"Th- this is the place?" I asked.

Heizou nodded as we both walked inside. As we walked through the long hallway towards the elevator, I was surprised to see that Heizou was well known here. Every person we passed said hello to him. It kinda made me jealous.
