The next morning, Hikari finally woke to her alarm, yawning.
"What a weird dream..."
She hit her alarm to a stop. She pouted, the phone Sebastian had placed in her room, ringing. She picked it up, glancing at the caller. It was Zero. Of course, Sebastian had made him take a club in the morning."So you mean...it wasn't you-!?"
"You must be joking," Hikari frowned.
"Then...who did this-!?" Zero gasped.
In front of him were piles upon piles of the type of bat that they'd broken yesterday that he needed for today's club. Hikari hung up the phone, yawning as she went to go get her sweater.
"HIKARI, GET DOWN HERE!"
Hikari frowned confused, rushing downstairs. Sebastian stood at the patio, his mouth agape.
"What is all this-!?"
Hikari nearly choked. The entire front garden was filled with cattail plants, bobbing in the wind.
"Ah! Cattails!" Hikari gasped.
Sebastian groaned, rubbing his head," I'm working too hard. I better go back to bed..."Hikari tried to push her way out of the garden, since the cattail plants were so tall. The two cats noticed her, getting up and running after her, as she ran down the road. The further she ran, the more cats appeared that chased her. Which meant, the more people that stared at her like she was a strange cat lover.
"NOOOO!" Hikari cried, trying to run to school," WHYYYYYY!"
Zero was walking with a girl in their class that he'd become acquainted with, already noticing Hikari's cries behind him.
"Hikari, here's one of the troublesome sticks!" He sighed, waving it up in the air.
Both gapped in awe as Hikari ran off, chased by a horde of cats.
"What's she up to?" Zero frowned.
"Maybe she's got catnip?" His friend suggested.
"Catnip? Why?"
"Who knows."
Hikari panted, running into the school gates, the cats still not leaving her be; a teacher at the gate growing annoyed.
"HEY MICHAELIS, LEAVE YOUR CATS AT HOME!"
"THEY'RE NOT MINEEEE!"
Hikari heaved in pants, finally reaching the safety of inside the school. No pesky cats could chase her anymore. She opened her bag compartment, gasping in horror as tons of little boxes all poured out onto the floor. They were moving. Rats climbed out, surrounding her and trying to climb up her as she squealed, pressing herself against the wall. It couldn't get any worse! The cats barged in, running over to the mice, trying to pounce on them and climb on Hikari. Nevermind, it was way worse! Hikari squealed, trying to swat them all off, running to her classroom.Hikari sat at her desk in the afternoon, scowling at the scroll. It looked like a bunch of children's drawings, and that was coming from a child.
"It wasn't a dream, they were serious," She groaned, recognising some of the drawn gifts," Maybe I shouldn't have saved that cat."
Some of the gifts she didn't recognise at all. There was even one of a cat wearing a crown. The girl stared at it, trying her best to decipher it. Zero creeped over, leaning in with a frown.
"Hikari."
Hikari screamed, looking at him and slamming her hands and arms over the scroll.
"WHA...WHAT NOW-!?"
"Did you lose your cat posse?"
"Oh, yeah. The cats are gone."
"That's good."
Hikari nodded, Zero sitting in his seat and facing her.
"Listen, I need your help. Can you fill in for me today? Tsuge has a match today and I promised him I'd go! I'll miss it if I don't leave right after class. Please?"
"Oh. Sure, I guess? Cleanup duty, right?"
"Thank you, Hikari! You can have as many of those bats as you want!"
