Hikari woke up to a sharp pain, everything was bright and foggy. A piercing white light.
"Ouch..."
Hikari groaned, standing up slowly. The fog was thick, too thick to discern where she was.
"Ugh...I landed on my back... What's going on? Where am I?"
Hikari walked forward a little, squinting, desperately. She hardly noticed the ginormous, figure looking over her. She gasped, turning to look behind her. It was Muta. He was already huge, but now he was double the size of Hikari in height. He towered over her, his expression serious.
"Muta? You got bigger," Hikari pouted.
The cat looked down at her.
"No, you got smaller."
Hikari hummed in response.
"Why?"
"Because we're here."
Hikari turned to look at the direction Muta was facing. The fog slowly cleared, revealing a ginormous castle; surrounded by lush grassland and blue skies. There seemed to be no such thing as shade. So this was the legend in Ding Dong Dell? Part of her world, but not quite, either. A gateway, like the youkai have.
"In the Kingdom of Cats?" Hikari gasped.
She smiled slightly, it was peaceful. Like a dream.Baron and Toto followed the stars until they disintegrated into nothing, over a large expanse of water; shaped as a cat paw. They circled around, trying to get their bearings. Baron stared down, his eyes sharpened.
"This is it."The village of the Cat Kingdom was beautiful, covered in cats tails and trees. The houses little domes, crafted from little mounds of earth and grass. Hikari watched from behind a house as a white cat existed, meeting a grey one. The grey cat set a flower crown on its head, both happy.
"Wow! There are cats everywhere!"
Both cat's tails bushed up, both running off. Muta followed close behind her, yawning lazily.
"It's their kingdom, you know?"
Hikari grinned, running off, Muta groaned.
"Hey!"
Hikari laughed, rolling down a hill covered in grass, the cats watching confused. One white cat, with a pink bow took the most interest to this. Hikari lay on her back in the grass with a sigh.
"Ah! It's so nice and relaxing..."
Muta walked over, frowning at the child," C'mon brat, let's blow this catnip stand."
"Not yet."
"Ugh, listen..."
Hikari smiled, laying back, spread out.
"I mean, it feels so nice.""No!" A soft, female voice said," You must leave at once!"
Hikari opened her eyes, startled, sitting up; Muta followed the demon's gaze. A white cat walked over, a pink bow tied around her neck with gentle blue eyes.
"Please run away from here."
"Woah!" Hikari gushed," What a beautiful cat. Even the cats are prettier here!"
"Please, there's no time to lose! This is not where you belong, Hikari."
Hikari scowled, staring at the cat, confused.
"How do you know my name?"
The brown cat climbed up the hill, waving.
"Miss Hikari!"
Hikari and Muta glanced over at him, whereas all the other cats silently bowed.
"It's the annoying one again," Hikari folded her arms, pouting.
"I did tell you to move," Muta sighed.
"I'm so relieved to find you!" He gasped, followed by guards," We accidentally dropped you on our way in. Your servant was over the weight limit."
Muta seemed not so bothered about the weight limit part, but grew ferocious at something else entirely.
"Servant!?" He scoffed.
"No," Hikari shook her head," This is Muta."
"Shall we go? The banquet is ready. Please join us, Moo-ta," The cat pulled Hikari up.
"MOO-TA-!?"Hikari frowned," But I..."
"His Majesty is waiting!"
"Where?"
"In the palace. See?"
The cat pointed at the large structure surrounded by a moat. Hikari hummed.
"Oh, right."
"Yes indeed."
Muta marched over, glaring at Hikari.
"Oi, brat, you're not going, are you?"
"Well...we should at least greet the king."
"Are you crazy!?" Muta choked," Let's go!"
"This way," The brown cat tried to pull Hikari.
"Wait a moment! Can she come with us?"
The cat stared at the white cat, before marching over.
"Your name?"
"Yuki, sir. I serve at the royal table," The cat stated, her head still bowed.
"So, you work at the palace? Miss Hikari, she'll be at the banquet."
The brown cat tugged Hikari away.
"Oh, okay, see you soon!"
Muta tried to scurry off the other way, Hikari seethed, grabbing him by his bushy tail and tugging him over.
"HEY- OI! OWWW!"
Yuki watched the guards and the guests saunter over to the palace, her gaze sad.
"Hikari..."Hikari and Muta sat on a carrier, the guards leading them through the thick grass. It was all so strange. Hikari noticed above the castle seemed to be this hole that emitted light. As they approached the castle, a few bystanders bowed. The guards crossing the bridge. Strange orbs revolved around, opening to reveal a sickly looking cat eye. Hikari yelped, cringing at the sight.
"What are those? They look creepy..."From a crystal ball, the King and the formal server in the kimono watched Hikari and Muta through the view of the eyeball. They watched her pull disturbed and cringed faces, as Muta slept lazily beside her. The King grinned, smug, holding the remote.
"She's finally here...My future daughter-in-law."
They watched as Hikari prodded Muta, the large cat waking up in shock as his snot bubble burst. The cat in the kimono squinted, something off. The King took no notice, passing him the remote.
"Here, Natori. I must welcome her in person."
The King waltzed off, Natori rewinding the clip with a scowl.
"Hm...where have I seen that cat before?"
