I awoke in the darkness, the scent of rot and mildew creeping their way down into my lungs. The sound of small, skittering claws, and crackling torchlight were the only things to grace my ears. I wasn't sure how deep I was, but I had a feeling it would take more than just luck to get out of here.A: (sits up groaning) okay (rubs his head) where am I?
J: (She tries to speak clearly, but her face is scrunched up in fear.) W-Where am I? I'm scared...
A: Don't be afraid, Jeanette. I'm here with you -- you're safe. (The stench of mildew and rot fill the air, but at the least the darkness is comfortable. We'll make it out of here in no time. He glances around, searching for an escape.) Hm.. There should be an exit nearby.
J: (She calms herself and smiles) Okay, okay... I'm sorry. I'm just scared. (She looks around and notices a flicker of light) W-What's that?
Alvin scans the surroundings for a moment, and then catches sight of the torch-lit tunnel in the distance. The light from the torches flickers, giving the illusion of hope.
A: There, the exit! (He stands up quickly, brushing away the dust and mud from his body.) Alright, it's time to go. (Alvin makes his way toward the exit, motioning Jeanette to follow.)
Jeanette follows after him, staying alert to her surroundings.
J: How do you know that's the exit? (she says, glancing back at the flickering flames.)

Some of the teachers look to the ground for those who would like to quit (Raises his hand) Please raise your hand and you will be permitted to leave and be dismissed to your home.
Theodore tries to raise his hand but Alvin stops him.
The scene cuts back to the present. In his hand, Alvin holds a map that the instructor had given him to get through the labyrinth. He glances at it for a moment. In the darkness, the map glows a faint yellow, and he can make out several symbols.
A: According to this, (Alvin says as he points at the map.) We need to get to Floor 3 now, just like the instructor said. But we'll need to speed up if we want to make it to Rank S. Jeanette, are you ready? We need to move.
J: O-Okay, yeah, I'm ready. (She stands up and brushes herself off as she grabs her staff.) Just don't leave me behind, okay? (She looks around cautiously and glances at the map for a moment.) Which way is the exit again?
Little do they know that they are currently on floor 35 inside each dungeon is a length of 40 floors or more.
Alvin nods at Jeanette then looks at the map once more to make sure he is headed in the right direction.
