Phayu stood hesitantly at the front door.
Maybe I shouldn't have come, he second-guessed himself struck by a rare moment of uncertainty.
But he couldn't stay away any longer.
It had been a week since they returned from Singapore and Rain had been avoiding him.
If it was a work-related communication, he responded quickly and politely. But anything more personal got a short deflecting response or went unanswered.
Phayu had asked him out for lunch and dinner during the week, but Rain had an excuse for each invite.
Phayu understood that everything that transpired was a lot to take in - especially after so much time apart. Things had moved pretty fast during the trip but Rain had instigated much of it, so his avoidance this week was confusing.
Last Saturday had been... mind-blowing.
And it wasn't just the sex.
The whole day had been far more than he had expected. From meeting Rain's clients who turned out to be friends of his, to seeing his tremendous talent and dedication come to life in that house had felt so intimate in some way. Like experiencing a part of Rain that he had never gotten to see before.
Then later that afternoon, exploring the Gardens by the Bay together had been very romantic. He wasn't sure that Rain had intended it to be, but it was. Engineering marvels and beauty everywhere made Rain bubble with happiness and excitement. It had felt so much like a date, walking through the lush, color-filled domes and scaling walkways in a cloud-like setting with waterfalls and mist.
Then the dinner, for certain, had been a date. There was no way it was anything else. The restaurant was moody and sexy. Not a place you would take a business acquaintance or client. The whole dinner was made for seduction, sharing plates, and bites of food. Not to mention the glances, the touches, and the overt invitation at the end of dinner.
No, he hadn't been mistaken. And then what happened in the hotel afterward had been one of the most memorable and mind-blowing sexual experiences of his life. He had loved every minute of it. And he was sure that Rain had too.
But more than that, he had been so happy to have Rain - willingly - in his arms again.
The intensity of their lovemaking and been so consuming they had collapsed and passed out until the harsh sunlight streaming in had awoken them.
Rain had gotten up and looked a bit disoriented as he looked at Phayu. And it was obvious when the memories of the night before hit. He had scrambled out of bed and escaped into the bathroom. A few minutes later he came back out with a warm, wet washcloth.
He had wiped Phayu down and then sat awkwardly on the bed and asked, "Are you feeling okay?"
Phayu smiled at him wanting to put him at ease, "Yes, I feel fine. A little sore, but it was absolutely worth it."
Rain's ears had flamed a hot red as a blush worked its way up his neck and cheeks.
He dropped the washcloth and picked up his phone to check the time. He gasped not having realized how late it was. Apparently, they had both slept peacefully throughout the night.
"It's 10 already! What time is the flight?" He asked anxiously.
"It's scheduled for 11, but it's my plane so we can leave whenever we want. We don't have to rush."
That seemed to fluster Rain, "No, no....ummm...we should leave as planned. I...ummm.. have plans with my parents today that I can't miss."
Phayu looked at him, not sure if he was being honest, but it was clear that he was uncomfortable.
