-'CHAPTER 3´-

Elaine and her friends indeed didn't persevere. After a wild goose chase for a sick Damon,  Katherine had brought the cure. Stefan had sacrificed himself for Damon's cure, and now Klaus and him were goodness knows where probably doing evil hybrid vampire things.

It seemed Elena had not given up as she always seemed to be trying to get Stefan back, which Elaine respected.

The summer had flown by with Elena's birthday party, Care and Tyler getting together, and many sleepovers with Care. While the two blondes gossiped. Elaine called Bonnie all summer to see how she was doing since the brunette was spending time away from her fathers. The blonde had also spent time hanging with Jere and third wheeling Care and Tyler, trying her best to help Elena with whatever she needed.

Bonnie eventually came back, which was nice, and senior prank night had passed, not a very good time. At least from what Elaine had heard. The blonde wasn't feeling well, so she luckily got a pass from Care and from what she heard, it was a good thing she missed it as Klaus had shown up tormenting the teens.

Klaus had also found out Elena's alive, and the hybrid made Stefan turn his humanity off, not to mention he had to obey Klaus's every command.

Elaine had felt bad for the brunette who was seemingly always sad about It

"Here we are, senior year," Care says, trying to keep an upbeat attitude.

"Anyone else think this should be slightly more empowering?" Bonnie questions.

"Okay, so prank night was a bust." Caroline starts, "but we are accepting it and moving on," the vampire enthused.

"You're right. Why should I let the fact that my boyfriend is seeing the ghost of his girlfriend hinder the experience?" Bonnie says, sounding more like she was trying to convince herself.

Elaine gives Brunette an encouraging smile.

"Yeah, and why should I let the fact my boyfriend was turned into a hybrid put a damper on an otherwise fabulous day?" Caroline throws out.

"Today's our anniversary," Elena says sadly.

Care, Elaine, and Bonnie turn to the woman.

"Technically, Stefan and I met for the first day of school last year," the brunette says grimly.

The three look at their friend sympathetically.

"We'll get him back, Elena," Eliane says with a soft smile, trying to cheer her friend up.

"Are you sure you wanna be here?" Bonnie asks.

"I have to be here, I have to put it behind me." The woman nods.

"New year, New life." she takes a deep breath before continuing in the school.

"I don't know, Elena." Elaine pleads softly, trying her best not to disappoint her friend while also not having to go. "Can't you ask Bonnie or Caroline?"

"Please, Elaine, it will take two seconds. I'm just not ready to see him yet, and that bracelet is important to me, ' the brunette explains. Elena had wanted the blonde to go to the Salvatore's house to get her bracelet she left. It had been her mother's, and it was important, but the brunette feared seeing Stefan again, which Elaine understood, but she didn't wanna be the one to go.

A beat passes. "I just don't think I wanna see Damon again after everything," the blonde admits.

"You'll pass by him, and it's over," Elena tries before grabbing Elaine's hand. "For me," she asks softly.
