Of course, sleeping in a dorm room with 3 other boys, James really didn't expect to be able to sleep in long, especially when he was best friends with Sirius Black. James had yet to meet someone as clingy as him. James hoped that since his two best friends started dating, that Sirius would direct his affection towards his boyfriend but he was wrong. He only managed to get a few hours of sleep before he started feeling said friend shaking him awake.
"I'm awake Pads, you can stop shaking me now" James pushed Sirius' hands away as he sat up. He didn't get back to the dorms till early in the morning, spending his time with Regulus instead. It's been 2 weeks since he first bumped into the younger Black at the tower and he finds himself going back nearly every night. Something about Regulus intrigues James but he just doesn't know what yet.
"What is up with you Prongs? You've been sleeping in all week. You were nearly late to Transfiguration yesterday" There was a touch of worry in Sirius' voice. James sighed and looked at his best friend.
"I'm fine, I've just had some trouble sleeping no need to worry about me" Sirius looked at James for a moment before nodding and dropping the subject. James smiled and made his way to the bathroom to get ready. James feels a little guilty about not telling Sirus about his meetings with Regulus, but why couldn't James have one secret for himself? It wasn't like they did anything other than sit in silence with the occasional farewells when someone decided to leave. He looked at himself in the mirror to see how tired he actually looked. He brushes it off and starts getting ready, glad it's the weekend and he doesn't have to wear a uniform.
"Ready to go Prongs?" He hears Reumus asking him as he leaves the bathroom. He nods in reply and follows after them. James tries to keep himself involved in the conversation, but all he wants to do is go back to the tower and sleep away the day. As they enter the hall, his gaze slips over to the Slytherin table, trying to find a certain boy.
First, he sees Pandora, whose blue Ravenclaw jumper sticks out among the collective green and black colours at the table. James thought it was weird for Pandora to sit at the Slytherin table, but he realised that Evan was her twin brother he understood. Across from her was Regulus, looking over the blonde's shoulder and right at him. Unlike James, he looks well rested, as if he wasn't also in the tower till early morning. He was wearing his Green Slytherin jumper and his hair wasn't in its usual look, but as if he had just given up trying to fix it up and decided to leave it. It was the only thing that could prove Regulus slept in. James gave him a small smile, but Regulus immediately looked away. James' smile slipped a little.
"You okay James?" He looked over to Lily who was already sitting at Gryfindor table. She looked at him with a small smile which he reciprocated.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine Lils, overslept is all" James gave up on his crush on Lily in 5th year after she came out to him and admitted to having a crush on a certain Ravenclaw girl. He decided his feelings for Lily were no longer romantic, and he was the first to find out she confessed her feelings to Pandora over the summer.
"The James Potter, tired? Here I thought you went to sleep at 9 at night and woke up at 5 in the morning" Marlene said with a laugh.
"Make your jokes, but at least I'm getting in good practice for Quidditch unlike some people here" James said, which earned him a smack across the back of the head by Marlene.
"Some of us enjoy our beauty sleep James" Mary mumbled against her arms. Her head was lying on one of her arms.
"Let's leave Prongs alone yeah? Shouldn't be the end of the world the poor man slept in, maybe his early mornings finally caught up to him" Sirius teased with a smile. James gave him a playful glare and started to fill up his plate.
