I walked on the dirt path that led towards the city I was so bored. I needed to relax and stop feeling so stressed, that's why I usually went for walks. I would have just bought a stupid light bulb and get it over with, but I didn't have any money. It was still early in the morning so I wasn't thinking clearly, but I'd do anything to leave home while mum and Henry fight. I walked through the forest and as I had stoped by a bush of wild berries, eating only a few, I heard someone crying. It was quite a loud sob and the person, who ever it was, seemed to be out of breath a lot. I was curious to know who it was so I tried to search for the person who seemed upset. The woods had so many thick bushes, as well as heaps of shrubbery that covered plenty of the ground and there were so many trees, so I couldn't easily see anyone.
"Hello?" I called after several minutes of scanning the shrubbery.
"Who's there?" replied a voice alarmed the crying had stopped immediately.
"My name is Seth," I quietly answered.
The voice didn't answer.
"Hello?" I called once again
"Go away!" the voice sounded slightly familiar
I followed the sound of the voice.
It was Madeline Highton; she was sitting on a rock. She wore a dark grey, slightly formal, dress, with some sort of blue ballet flats, and she held a small blue bag. Her eyes were all red and puffy and she had a few tear streams running down her face. I felt like leaving and just ditching her right then and there. But I wanted to know why a girl, that could have anything she wants' would be crying.
"Go away," she yelled once again.
"Why are you crying?" I asked, even though I still hated her, it was fun to be annoying every once in a while.
"Go away"
"I'm not in your house, so you can't tell me to go away!"
"Please just leave me alone" she sniffed.
"Why"
"Because, can't you see I'm upset!"
"Why"
"Because I really want to go to an important party, but my mum says I shouldn't go because that would be hanging around with people that have a lower status than me," it surprised me that she being so open about everything, maybe she had no one to talk to.
I said nothing.
"My mum is practically saying I can't be friends with anyone since I don't know anyone that has a higher status than me, and since she wouldn't let me go, I ran away!" she sobbed.
"What does it matter that you hang around people with lower status than you"
Madeline looked at me as if I'd just told her I'd been to the moon. "Well just about everything matters," she yelled.
"But you can choose to make it not matter"
"Arhh you wouldn't understand. Why am I even talking to you?"
I heard a sudden noise; it seemed to be coming from far away so I couldn't clearly make out what it was.
"Wait shh"
"Did you just tell me to shh"?
"Shh"
"Excuse me"
Now this was getting annoying, I was trying to listen for some thing I know I heard and she was purely being rude. I had no choice but to cover her mouth with my hand.
