Never Tell Me The Odds

Chapter 27

It's been Two days and Gil has called us to his shop as he's finished with our armor. "Whoa the armor looks great Gil!" I pick up the Beskar chest plate taking a closer look at it.

"Only the best for you son!" Gil places a hand on my shoulder laughing. "Try it on, see how it fits." He ushers for us to try on the armor. I look to Qi'ra and nod before starting to put the chest piece on. While we put the armor on Gil picks up a small dagger and walks over to RJ. "Here you go RJ, a little dagger just for you"

I look down at RJ who's beeping with excitement as Gil hands him the dagger. "Yes! Thank you!" He grabs it with his small arm that came out of the hatch in his side.

"Mine fits perfectly" I smile knocking on my chest piece. I look down at the rest of my armor on my arms and legs. "How about yours Qi'ra?"

"It's great. Thank you Gil" She turns to him bowing her head slightly with a smile.

"Anytime! If you ever need anything else come see me." He smiles putting his arm around the back of my neck chuckling. "So I'm guessing this means you three are headed out?" He queries looking down over at Qi'ra and RJ who are now standing with eachother.

"Yea, I need to clean up my house some before we head out on a mission." I copy his arm and put mine around his neck smiling back at him.

"Well make sure to come visit us! We'd love to see the three of you more often, right Kyly?" He looks over at Kyly who's been standing silently at the doorway. She just smiles softly and nods quietly.

"Before we go, here's the money for the armor." I reach into my pocket to grab the money but Gil moves his arm and grabs my wrist.

"No no, it's on the house. No need to pay me." He says having me let go out the money pouch.

"I insist. You closed your shop for a few days so now you're out money that you could've been getting." I go to grab it again but he shakes his head.

"It's not a big problem. It was my pleasure helping you out. You're practically family. Remember that" He smiles placing his hand on my shoulder again.

"Thanks Gil. I really appreciate everything you've done. I promise we will come visit more often." I smile feeling my eyes gloss over.

"Don't get all sappy on me boy" He laughs slapping my back. "But I'll be expecting you back soon"

"We'll definitely be back soon. I'll meet you guys outside I'll be out in a second." I smile watching as he nods and walks outside with RJ and Qi'ra, who gave me a smile before walking out.

I look around smiling to myself. Then I grab the coin pouch from my pocket and set it down on Gil's counter. "You know he won't accept that right?" Kyly's voice comes from behind me, startling me.

I spin around to face her, "Shit Kyly! You scared me, I uh.. I didn't know you were standing there." I chuckle awkwardly then clear my throat looking away. "I know but... take it as another way of me saying thank you"

"I won't say anything until after you leave." She chuckles walking over to me. Suddenly she hugs me tightly. "I'll miss you and RJ."

"We'll miss you too Ky"

"And I... I'm happy for you." She lets go and grabs onto my shoulders. "I'm glad that Qi'ra makes you happy. I'm sorry for causing trouble at the beginning"

"Thank you. It's ok, I'm sorry for talking it out so late with you." I smile then look towards the door. "We should head out now" I suggest to which she nods and walks out of the shop with me. I walk up to Qi'ra grabbing her hand softly. "Ready to go?"

"Yep. I'm ready" She smiles before getting on her tiptoes kissing my cheek.

"Thank you for having us. We'll see you soon." I say turning to Gil and Kyly.

"See you three later!" The two of them wave to us before we start walking back to the ship.

"Let's hurry" I lean over and whisper to Qi'ra.

"What's the rush?" She asks looking at me confused likely.

"I gave Gil money while I was in there. So we should go before he sees it and chases after us to give it back." I explain then look back to see Gil and Kyly still standing outside the shop.

She giggles wrapping her arms around my arm starting to walk a little faster. "Then we can hurry." We speed walk back to our ship and hurry inside. We all sit down and I start up the ship, taking off back towards home. "So we are going on a mission after we get back?" Qi'ra queries looking over at me.

"Yep. I'm not sure what yet exactly. But I need to clean up the hut before anything. It's a disaster" I say with a sigh, noticing her get awkward.

"Yea sorry about that."

"It's ok, it wasn't you who trashed my home." I smile turning the chair towards her. "Don't stress about it. But you better help me clean"

She laughs and nods, "Of course I'll help"

"I'll help too!" RJ chimes in from his little chair in between us.

"Great! We'll have in clean in no time then" I smile down at him as he beeps happily. Then I turn back in my chair and lean back with a smile. "And it'll be nice having another person there with us" I look over at Qi'ra with a smile as I leave back in my chair.

"I'm looking forward to it." She smiles reaching over to grab my hand. I hum happily and look forward again. I can't wait to be home.
