Some time passes. It is was now full on summer. It was the last week before summer break started.
Yaro and I continued to fight off the Kagé. We grew closer as a team, learning how to fight together. He became a very good friend of mine, but we had to keep our secrets, our identity's from each other.
I didn't really feel the same way I did before towards him, I guess it's because I started dating Kura. But I still care for him deeply. But it's a different feeling, it's hard to describe. Like you would stand in harms way for this person no matter what.
I hung out with everyone else too, at school and sometimes we would all go out and hangout at random places. Like the mall, watching movies or shopping, or we would go to the park. Our favorite place to hangout was the arcade.
We stopped having church on Sundays. It was just too much of a hassle for my parents. They were too busy at work at the hospital. So instead my friends would come over on Saturdays when we were off of school and we would have dinner at our house. It was a small group just my family and friends. Kura would play his guitar and everyone else would sing along.
Then it was July, it was very warm out. The bugs could be heard making so much noise. The sun would beat down and bake everything. You could even smell the grass getting toasty and standing on the roads felt like an open oven.
At school I tired to pay attention to Kaen, but he was just acting like a normal student. He was even acting nice towards Kaede. They would hangout occasionally. But he still stayed away from the rest of us, and he never wanted to talk to me.
I was back at my house after school one day, talking to Bluebell. I sat on my bed with my knees scrunched up to my face, my arms hugging them.
"Ughhhh.... How am I supposed to investigate him when I can't even get close?!" I un tuck my legs and rub my face with my hands, messing up my hair.
Bluebell floats closer to me.
"It's so awkward, even if Kaede's there he just ignores me. What am I supposed to say? 'Hey you seemed like a pretty fast runner there at the sports festival, you're kind of too fast and strong for a teenager. You keepin any secrets. Have any hidden powers?" I joke.
Bluebell raises an eyebrow at me.
"Well no, obviously." Bluebell says sassily.
I fling my arms up in the air.
"Hey Kaen, how you doin buddy? I feel like we got off on the wrong foot. Do you like jewelry? I was thinking of buying you a present. Wearing anything right now?" I pretend talk.
Bluebell facepalms.
I fall over face first into my bed and let out a muffled scream.
"He would probably think you're acting weird or that you're trying to ask him out." Bluebell wiggles their eyebrows.
I lift my face up with a disgusted look. "EW! Bluey why would you even say something like that?"
Bluebell shrugs. "If I were a boy and a pretty girl gave me a present I would- I mean. Ahem... Why don't you just try small steps first? Try being his friend. You could ask Kaede what he likes?"
"I did, Kaede didn't say anything useful or he just said he didn't know. He would start getting suspicious if I ask too directly. Cause he might be one too." I sigh.
Bluebell thinks for a second, holding their little paw up to their fluffy face. "Hmm... What if there's a situation where he has to transform or use some of his power and he would have to reveal himself to be a villain?"
"That's too hard, we never know when or where a Kagé attack will happen. And it's dangerous, someone innocent could get hurt. We could just be completely wrong about him having super powers... Maybe it was just Kaede, or we're even more wrong and it was someone just watching them from the crowd that could give them powers temporarily." I theorize.
