Akari wakes up the next morning, early for school.

I turn off my phone alarm and I get up and wake Yuko up.

"Hey, good morning. You can have the shower first if you want and get ready." I offer to her.

She groggily gets up, rubbing her eyes.

"Ugggh, it's so early. Remind me not to stay up as late next time." She complains.

Yuko gets up and grabs her school clothes and goes over to the bathroom.

I get up and go downstairs to get some breakfast. I go down the stairs and I see my parents.

"Oh hey, what time did you guys get home?" I ask them.

They walk over and give me a hug.

"Oh not too long ago sweetie, sorry to make you worried. There's just a lot going on right now. So much work at the hospital." My mom says.

They were still wearing their work clothes.

"I'm afraid we'll have to go back in soon. Might be another long day." my dad says, looking at his watch.

They were drinking coffee and eating some food.

"Oh yeah, I wanted to let you guys know I had someone spend the night with me for a sleepover. She's a new friend I made at school." I tell them.

My mom sits back down at the table.

"That's nice sweetie. I'm glad you're making more friends." My mom says smiling.

My dad takes another sip of his coffee.

"What's her name?" He asks.

"Fuyuko." I tell him.

I go over to the pantry and grab some cereal. I pour myself a bowl and put milk in it. I go sit down at the table and eat my food.

After awhile, Yuko comes downstairs.

"Oh, hello Fuyuko. Our daughter was just telling us about you." My dad says.

"Hello, Mrs. and Mr. Tanaka. Your home is very lovely and your daughter's very nice. Thank you for letting me spend the night here." Yuko says, bowing.

"Your welcome to come over as much as you want." My dad says.

We sit and chat for a bit.

Then my mom looks at her phone.

"Ah, we better get going honey." My mom says to my dad.

They both get up and gather their stuff.

I stand up.

"What time do you think you're going to be back?" I ask them.

"Aw, I'm not sure sweetie, I'll let you know later tonight." My mom tells me, she rests her hand on my cheek.

"But... I don't wanna be left alone, again, during the night..." I say, sounding worried.

My dad thinks for a moment.

"Well, if it's okay with Fuyuko's parents, then maybe you could spend the night at her house. If it's okay with her as well." My dad says.

Yuko jumps up and grabs onto my arm.

"Oh please say yes Akari. It would be so fun if you spent the night at my house!" She exclaims.

I still felt worried, but I forced a smile.

"Yeah, that sounds fun..." I tell them.

"Okay sweetie, stay safe and have fun." My dad says. He ruffles my hair.
