Pepper couldn't stop the sob that started to bubble up and out of her throat as she sat on her bed at the compound, her hands covering her face as she tried to be as quiet as possible as to not wake her daughter who had finally cried herself to sleep.

Two years...

She had forgot the boy who had essentially become her son for two whole years...

She had been grieving, her whole family had been grieving a young man, a man who had saved the entire universe and they didn't even know...

Peter, her son who had lost his way but didn't allow that one fact to stop him from taking care of her and Morgan, Peter, who gave up everything he ever had to bring back the other half of the population that turned to dust without a care to what happened to him, her son, who had sacrificed his very life to bring back Morgan's father, her fiancée.

And then condemned himself to suffer silently for two years while his body killed itself...

The others had informed them of what had happened after Barnes went back to make the trade, they had informed them about what Peter had told them and even though she was so very mad at the boy, she couldn't help a small part of her from feeling proud at his choice.

She had been so worried during those five years when Peter had lost his way, she had been worried that he might never find his way back to who he once was but Clint, bless his soul had found him and gave her boy hope.

Gave him something else to fight for besides giving "justice" to bad people...

And to know that he had given himself up to save people's lives, allowed himself to be resurrected just to die in a few years times all in the name of protecting people who couldn't do so themselves...

It made her hope that the young man could come back to her, the boy who she once knew as Spider-Man would one day be back and swinging around New York like his old self.

What none of them had known though was Peter had done all of this, went through all of this pain just to cure Dr Jane Foster of her cancer.

Apparently, Natasha was the only one who had known anything about it and when she had told the story about how he had saved the Doctor, Thor had literally cried when the spy said the young man had saved his old flame.

The god hadn't even known that Jane was sick, so to find out that Peter had been protecting her, trying to save her this whole time made the God respect Peter even more than he already did.

When he woke up, Pepper was sure that Thor would do everything in his power to make it up to the young man, even though Peter would fight him tooth and nail the whole way.

That's just who he was, Peter gave up everything he had and asked for nothing in return.

The thought just made her cry all the more harder, trying with all her might to be as silent as possible.

Her daughter, gosh her precious daughter had been hurting so much and Pepper could do nothing but watch it happen and wonder why it was.

But now that they all had their memories back, Morgan realized that she hadn't seen her brother in two years and once she had laid eyes on the young man when Thor and surprisingly Gamora, returned carrying the weakened hero the young girl had instantly burst into tears as Peter had passed out,

They had taken him to the Medical Ward and set him up in a bed. None of them had been allowed in during the examination except the medical professionals but after they were done, they had simply said that the man was weak from the past two years and would simply need to rest and recuperate as he slowly gained back his strength.
