Peter sat in his lab with a holographic map of the world in front of him, contemplating what his next move was gonna be.
ACE didn't understand why he was doing it, and Peter didn't feel the need to tell us AI whom had a tendency to worry that he was hearing a call that was pulling him towards somewhere on the planet that only he could hear.
In his current state of mind, with his weakened body he could already see how ACE would see that.
Him hearing imaginary voices in his head, she'd probably call the nearest Avenger and tell them he had finally gone mad.
He didn't need that.
He needed to find out what the cause of this call was.
Who was behind it? Why was it that he was the only one able to hear it? Where was it coming from? Why was it calling out at all?
It wasn't necessarily a voice, it was this, pull. If Peter had to put a name to it, it was like a soft buzzing sound, reminiscent of how is sixth sense used to warn him of danger but it was also trying to lead him to somewhere Peter didn't know. A place on this planet that had signaled him out for some reason.
He knew it had to be over seas and not in the states because when he first heard it in London, the buzzing was louder there. Now though, it was quiet, buzzing a lot less frequently yet softly in the back of his head.
Whatever it was, it wanted him to go somewhere and Peter wasn't leaving this lab until he found out where exactly it was originating from.
Even if he was already supposed to be on his jet heading his way towards the compound for that stupid party he promised Natasha he'd be at.
A party where Yelena was gonna be at...
He sighed and rubbed a hand down his face at the thought, trying not to let his emotions get the better of him. He didn't need the reminder of how his partner didn't remember him, how all those years together now mean nothing to her, how he'll never get to tell her how much he...
There he goes, down the rabbit hole.
He couldn't think like this, his weakened body probably couldn't handle any of the emotional trauma that thought process would bring so he tried his best to suppress the emotions as best he could and work on the problem at hand.
The call.
"Maybe if you tell me what you're looking for, I can help you and you'll be able to leave quicker." His AI spoke from her place standing next to his arm on the table, her hologram's face frowning and brows furrowed in concern as she watched her boss work out this dilemma he wouldn't talk to her about.
The only thing she knew was he needed to find something and that's all he told her.
He could be so infuriating at times...
"It will only take me a second ACE, no need to worry." Peter waved off her concern as his eyes drifted over Asia's major cities and landmarks to see if the pull strengthened or not.
It was a long shot, but he hoped that if he laid eyes on the place that was pulling him, the call would increase in frequency and speed, letting him know that it was the place to go.
He really didn't have any other choice to find out what was calling out so desperately for him unless he wanted to travel the whole world and he didn't think he'd have enough time for that, considering he was on deaths door already.
