Haku tucked a loose strand of snow white hair behind her ear. She resituated the black pants of her hakama and tucked in the pink top. Her grandfather loved to dress her in traditional clothing when she visited them in Japan. She looked at her copy of Kimetsu no Yaiba she had finished on the flight over. She sighed. She respected the author's choices of who lived and who died, but she could not help but want a happier ending for everyone. Even some of the demons should have been given a cure and given a chance. She tied her hair in a loose ponytail and slid her hairpin she made into her hair. It was the inyo symbol, the Japanese equivalent of yin and yang from ancient times. She had always been fascinated by it and how it was a foundation of a whole era in history with the onmyoji and was still present in modern martial arts today. She grabbed her katana that her grandfather had just given her earlier and ran out the door to head to her grandfather's dojo. She was not as good at kendo as her father, but she did only get to practice when visiting Japan. She turned to run through a forest that acted as a shortcut to the dojo. She was suddenly surrounded by a bright light, the world seemed to go in slow motion. She stopped running, looking around the white void. She felt a hand touch her shoulder and she turned to see the face of a character from her manga, Tsugikuni Yoriichi. She had to be dreaming. The man smiled softly at her. "Change the future that only exists because of my failure."
Before Haku could speak, the white vanished and she found herself standing in an unfamiliar town. She looked around, the streets bustled with people in traditional clothing. Was it a festival?.....No, the whole place looked like it belonged to a different time period. She looked around utterly confused. She caught a glimpse of a boy in a green checkered haori running through the street. Wait a minute? The boy looked familiar, but in a way that made her even more confused. She followed the boy and found him standing in front of a man holding a child. There was no doubt about it. The boy was Tanjiro Kamado from Kimetsu no Yaiba! Tanjiro stood frozen staring at the man. Haku looked up at the man and froze. "Muzan Kibutsuji." She said the name aloud and the man turned his cold gaze to her. Suddenly, Tanjiro leapt forward after a man who was biting into his wife's shoulder. Haku looked in shock as the little girl buried her face into Muzan's chest and a woman he called Rei held onto his arm. Haku reached out towards Muzan as he started leaving with his so-called wife and child. She then halted, too stunned to do anything. She'd totally just been isekaied and into the world of Demon Slayer nonetheless. She pulled herself together and ran forwards to help Tanjiro who called out to her in concern, "No miss! You need to get back!" He warned, but Haku did not stop. "I know. This guy has been turned into a demon. We have to stop him." Tamjiro looked surprised at her statement. Suddenly a bunch of flowers surrounded them and a beautiful woman stood before them. "You both referred to him as a person. Please, I am a demon as well as a doctor. Allow me to take it from here." Haku turned to the woman and man standing before her. Tamayo and Yushiro. "I'll help with the wife." She went to the woman who was holding her injured shoulder and helped her up. She insisted on following them. Things were going to get crazy soon, and having seen Muzan herself, she knew she would be a target as well.
Haku sat in silence waiting for Yashiro to return with Tanjiro and Nezuko. Tamayo was in another room with the injured wife. She had introduced herself to Tamayo and Tamayo had introduced herself and Yashiro on the way to the clinic. Tamayo did not ask Haku anything, simply stating they would speak when Yashiro returned. Haku was rather excited in a way. She would get a proper sit down with the protagonist and the adorable Nezuko! The door opened and Tamayo entered with Yahiro, Tanjiro, and Nezuko in tow. Tanjiro sat down beside Haku and Nezuko lay on the floor, wallowing like a cat. "Nezuko, that's bad manners!" Tanjiro scolded. Tamayo waved it off. "No, it's fine. Now then Haku-san, I am rather curious what your connection in all this is. Tanjiro I understand as he is a demon slayer." Tanjiro looked at Haku then pointed to her sword. "That is a nichirin blade though." Haku looked at her grandfather's katana. "I don't think so. It was my great great grandfather's. He crafted it himself and then there's the fact...." She trailed off. The fact she was not even from this world. Tanjiro cocked his head. "No, I'm sure of it. I can tell." Haku drew her blade and held it in front of her outstretched. The blade slowly changed color to a rainbow hue. Tanjiro marveled at the color. "Wow! Mine turned black for me. Have you never drawn the sword before or something?" Haku shook her head. "Well, no. My grandfather just gave it to me today. None of us are demon slayers of course." She sheathed her sword. Tanjiro smiled at her. "Well maybe you can become one then. You already have the blade and you know about demons." Haku nodded. Maybe so, but that was an issue for later. Tamayo cleared her throat. "Well then, Haku-san I'll leave things as they are for now. I will note you have a rather peculiar scent as well." Haku smiled. Maybe it was because she was from another world. Tamayo continued, telling her and Tanjiro about her and Yushiro's goals. Tanjiro was rather surprised, and made several comments that caused Yushiro to hit him. Haku felt Nezuko grasp her hand and nuzzle into it. She smiled and patted the girl on the head. The air suddenly changed, and Yushiro screamed and dove to protect Tamayo. A ball burst into the room, leaving a hole in the wall. Haku looked out to see Yahaba and Susamaru. She had forgotten all about Muzan sending his lackeys after Tanjiro.
Susamaru laughed and sent two temari balls flying into the home. They danced around the room until one made its way towards Tamayo. Yushiro leapt to her protection and his head was knocked off. Haku drew her blade. She had to do something. Nezuko left the room, being sent to move the wife down to the basement for safety. Tanjiro looked at Haku when she came to stand beside him. "Haku-san! These are demons and you're not trained for this." Haku gritted her teeth. "I'm a fast learner." Susamaru looked at the two. "A girl with white hair and red eyes and a boy with hanafuda earrings. For some reason I'm supposed to bring the girl alive. She does smell particularly appetizing." Haku let out a breath. "See Tanjiro, they are after us." Tanjiro looked back towards Tamayo and Yushiro. "You guys go hide! They are after me and Haku-san." Tamayo narrowed her eyes. "No. We will fight. This is our home and we are demons too after all." Haku tried her best to dodge the temari as they flew around the room. She watched Tanjiro closely, trying to use her body in the way he did. It came surprisingly easy to her, like she had been a slayer before, which being from another world, was not a thing. Yushiro sent a paper charm towards Tanjiro that attached itself to his forehead. Tanjiro could suddenly see the arrows. Wait? Haku could see them already, but how?
Haku smiled when Tanjiro managed to cut off all of Susamaru's arms. The fight was nowhere near over, and so far all haku had done was dodge. Yushiro had instructed Tanjiro to take care of Yahaba while they focused on Susamaru. Yushiro pointed a finger at Haku. "And you can't even fight woman! Worthless." Haku could not disagree entirely. "Shut up you Tamayo obsessed freak! I'm a human without any slayer training, I think the fact I'm alive is pretty dang good!" Yushiro seemed to seethe with anger, but decided to ignore it and turned his attention to the battle at hand. Haku stayed on the defensive. She noticed Tanjiro flying about in the sky. That meant he had beaten Yahaba. She turned just in time to see nezuko patting Yushiro on the head, then turning for her game of kickball with Susamaru. She watched amazed at her raw strength. Haku could not help but smile. Nezuko was amazing. Tamayo walked in front of Nezuko. Blood dripped from her arm as she started casting her spell. Yushiro pressed a cloth to Haku's mouth. "Human bodies can't handle her spell so don't inhale it." Tamayo proceeded to trash talk Muzan until Susumaru started to protest. Then, Susamaru did it. She said his name. Instantly the demon knew she had messed up. She ran begging for mercy, but it was too late. Arms erupted from her body until one grabbed her head and crushed it. The scene was brutal and Haku had to look away. The arms repeatedly crushed and tore the demon to pieces until she was nothing but a bloody puddle. Tanjiro had crawled his way over. He watched horrified. When it finally seemed to be over, Tamayo pointed to the eye that was left. "She wasn't a twelve kizuki. Those of the kizuki have their numbers written in their eyes." Haku started to help Tanjiro up while Yushiro and Tamayo retreated inside. Tanjiro looked at the demon before him with eyes full of sadness. "Haku-san. What will you do after this?" Haku steadied Tanjiro until he was able to stand on his own. "I- I dunno. I have nowhere to go. You go check on Tamayo and Yushiro ok." Tanjiro nodded and headed towards the home and down into the basement. Haku waited outside, looking up at the sky. What should she do at this point? She muddled over the thought for a while until Tanjiro returned, Nezuko safely tucked into her box on his back.
"Haku-san. Why not come with me. You said you wanted to become a slayer right?" Haku looked at Tanjiro confused for a moment. Travel with the protagonist? Heck yeah! She smiled big. "Yes! I'd love to! You can show me some moves while we travel! Teach me Tanjiro-sensei!" Tanjiro laughed and waved his hands. "I don't know if I'm really fit to teach you, but I can give it a try." Haku bounced and threw up her hands. She was going to trin her butt off!
