The butterfly mansion was quite a beautiful place. Even the hospital wing where Haku was now headed was well kept and beautiful. She slid open the door and stepped into the room where Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke were. Tanjiro picked up her scent immediately. "Haku-san! I guess everything went ok?" Haku nodded her head and took a seat by Tanjiro's bed. "Yeah. I'm supposed to be trained by Shinobu starting now." Tanjiro smiled. "Wow, that's great!" His eyes went to her wrists. "I didn't tell anyone about your blood. Really I'm not sure I really saw what I saw. It does smell really different from normal blood." Haku rubbed her wrists and feined a smile. "It was blue. For real. That brings me to an important question, do you think we can get some of it to Tamayo? Do you have another one of those blood sucking daggers from Yushiro?" Tanjiro dug around in his pocket a moment and produced one of Yushiro's creations. "Yeah here. You'll probably have to take it outside the mansion for the cat to get it." Haku took the little dagger and stuck it into her arm. Deep blue blood was sucked out and into a little vial. Both she and Tanjiro looked at it with new shock. Yep, blue as blue can be. Haku frowned.. "I have too many questions now. Why did Muzan want me alive? And why do all the demons say I smell weird? Does it have to do with my blood?" Tanjiro crossed his arms, thinking. "I really dunno. Maybe Miss Tamayo will be able to find something in the sample." Haku really hoped so. Inosuke and Zenitsu both stirred in their beds, having previously been asleep. Zenitsu sat up when he noticed Haku. "Haku! So good to see you! You didn't get bit too did you?" Haku moved over to stand near Zenitsu and could not hold back her laughter. "You have such tiny little arms!" Zenitsu puffed his cheeks. "Yeah, go ahead and laugh!" Haku ruffled the boy's blonde hair, much to his delight. "Just make sure you take your medicine ok?" Zenitsu promised that he would. Haku then moved over to Inosuke and patted the boar headed boy's head as well. "I know you can't speak well right now. You did a really good job. Sorry I got sent flying through the forest and couldn't help you." A gruff voice replied from under the mask. "It's ok. I'll just get stronger." Haku agreed that he would get stronger and Inosuke seemed pleased by that. Haku then headed to the room Shinobu had prepared for her and face planted onto the bed. She heard a soft meow and looked to see Chachamaru at the end of the bed. She slipped the vial of her blood into the sack on the cat's back. Another soft meow and she was gone. Haku curled up on the bed and went to sleep.
Haku put on her uniform for the first time. It was the standard female slayer uniform. She dug in the box she had in her room and pulled out the haori she had made. The haori was half orange-red with little suns on the bottom and half navy blue with little moons on the bottom. Directly in the middle on the back was an entwined sun and moon motif. She felt it represented her Inyo breathing style and her desire to find balance better than the Inyo symbol alone. She put on a set of mismatched socks to match and her tori sandals. She headed out of her room to meet with Shinobu for training. Shinobu looked her over when she entered the courtyard. "Well, well. It suits you!" The complement made Haku blush a little and rub the back of her head nervously. Shinobu clapped her hands together. "With that out of the way I have important news. You'll be going on a little mission with Tomioka! Your first assignment as a slayer." Shinobu patted Haku on the back.
Haku was rather excited. Training with Shinobu was more brutal than one would expect it to be. She may be the most delicate hashira in build and form, but she made sure Haku had the basics flawlessly before she could move on. Total concentration constant had proven quite difficult. Haku had spent several days keeling over after only minutes of engaging in it. Tanjiro had begun training in it as well, and the two spent long hours working together to improve on it. Haku had managed to master it given she started training a while before Tanjiro, while Tanjiro was still working on it. Zenitsu and Inosuke had only just begun working on it, but Haku knew they would pick it up in no time. Shinobu sent Haku to meet Giyu outside the front gate.
Giyu turned to Haku as she stepped outside. "Ready for your first mission?" He asked her. Haku waved hello then nodded. "Yeah. Not to mention I won't be alone." The two walked in relative silence, exchanging some small talk on how training with Shinobu was. Giyu seemed quite amused when Haku told him how she had managed to irritate Shinobu enough her smile cracked and she sternly lectured her. "I told her I wasn't big on poisons, but she insisted I learn some basics. After messing up the mixture for the thousandth time, she kicked me out!" Giyu laughed a little. "She needs to be more honest with her emotions." Haku agreed with him, and thought it was quite sweet he seemed to worry about her.
They arrived at the town where the demon was said to lurk, killing people in the alleyways at night. The moon was high in the sky and they slowly patrolled the streets. Haku heard a sound in the alley, and slowly made her way towards it. Her heart sank when she found the source. A woman with black hair that ended in red tips stood over the corpse of a child. The woman turned her head towards Haku when she noticed her presence. Her eyes were orange with black sclera and a single orange horn erupted from her forehead. Haku drew her blade. "Why would you kill a child?" Haku demanded. The demon cocked her head to the side. "Because it was flea ridden living in this alleyway all alone. Now it's with me as part of me." Haku gritted her teeth. "You're sick!" The demon rolled her eyes. "No, but I am still hungry!" The demon lunged at Haku and she dodged out of the way, slicing off the demon's arms. Giyu had joined her, but he stayed back, allowing her to take the lead. Haku twisted around behind the demon. "Inyo breathing: Third form: unification of Kon and Haku!" She slashed the demon's neck, beheading it in one swift motion. She landed beside what little remained of the child, and sheathed her sword with grim expression. Giyu placed his hand on her shoulder. "You did good. Now no one else will suffer the same fate by that demon." His words did little to soothe her heavy heart. She simply nodded.
