The group patrolled the fields of the small farming village. While many plots had other things, they were most known for their corn. Tall stalks stood in nice neat rows. Perfect to hide in. They passed a few farmers still tending to the fields despite the night, and greeted them, asking questions about the disappearances. All of them occurred at night when the moon was full and everyone reported hearing a woman crying in the fields the same night. Sounded demon enough. They split off into four to cover more ground. Haku started to hear soft sobs coming from within the corn. All she could think about was that horror movie from her world as she slowly made her way towards the sobs. She came upon a woman with short brown hair with pale blue tips in a pale blue kimono. When the woman lifted her head and turned to face her, the eyes and mouth were completely black and an endless stream of tears ran down her face. Her hands were not normal hands, instead the fingers were pale colored claws. The voice that spoke was distorted. "Oh, a demon slayer. How tasty." Haku felt a presence behind her and a deep voice spoke. "Not this one. Can't you smell. She's the one the master is after." Haku jumped out of the way before the demon could grab her. This demon had deep green skin and its face was like that of a lizard. It was shirtless and wore red colored pants. Great, two of them. The woman wiped a tear from her eye which turned into a large bubble. "Blood demon art: Prison Tears." The bubble made its way towards Haku and she slashed at it, only for her sword to bounce off. She dodged around various bubbles that came at her and at the same time dodge oncoming slashes.
A gun shot rang out, and the demon woman snapped her neck to the side to stare at the one who shot her. Genya had shot her straight through the center of the chest. The second demon was nowhere to be seen. Haku looked around trying to find it. Suddenly , the demon came up behind Genya and sliced deep into the boy's back. Genya fell forward, and hit the ground. "Genya!" Haku used an incoming bubble to bounce herself into the air and over to Genya. She slashed the demon and managed to lop off its hand. She could hear Genya chanting to focus. She slid the severed hand over towards him. She was focused on the demon in front of her, and failed to notice the bubble coming behind her. She was engulfed in the bubble, suspended in the liquid. A little of it got in her mouth, and she tasted the saltiness of tears. Gross! She poked and prodded at the bubble to no avail. Another gunshot rang out, and the demon lost its other arm. Gebya was standing back up, having eaten demon flesh and healed his wounds. The tear demon came to stand beside Haku. Haku focused her mind and gripped her sword tightly. "Inyo breathing: fourth form: cycle of the four seasons!" She violently twisted her body in a circle, managing to pop the bubble she was in. She instantly bounced on one foot and rushed the demon, slashing off her head. When she turned to see how Genya was doing, she found him standing over the demon with its head held in his hand.
Haku walked up to Genya who snapped his head in her direction. His eyes were black sclera with yellow pupils. "Back off! I don't need any help killing demons!" He snapped at her. Haku took a little step back and held up her hands. "Calm down Genya. I can see you're doing just fine. As for the demonification, There are stories of another warrior who ate demons to fight demons. So don't worry about it." She tried to reassure him. Genya's face softened a little. Haku could hear the footsteps of Marada and Kyojuro heading their way and quickly pushed Genya deeper into the corn. She rushed out of the field herself and ran face first into Kyojuro's chest, causing her to fall on her butt. He and Marada stopped, and Kyojuro reached down to help her up. "Haku!" Kyojuro seemed relieved to see her. "We sensed the demons and heard gunfire." Haku accepted his hand and got back onto her feet, rubbing her sore nose. "Your chest is like steel Kyojuro." She commented. "Genya and I took care of them. There were two demons." Kyojuro flushed a little at her comment on his chest. He cleared his throat. "Uhm, good. Well, where is Genya then?" He looked around. "Right here, sorry." Genya announced as he emerged from the corn looking normal again. Haku sighed in relief. She was a bad liar and trying to cover it up would be bad. She knew others were aware of Genya's ability, but it was not something he liked to show off, particularly since he once lost control and had to be subdued by Gyomei. Kyojuro puffed his chest, proud that the two had fared well against the demons. They started walking back towards the village. Genya came to walk beside Haku, his gaze shuffling around. He was embarrassed about talking to a girl. So cute. He rubbed the back of his neck nervously. "Sorry for..uh... snappin' at ya back there." He apologized. Haku smiled at him and patted him on the back, laughing when he blushed and stiffened. "It's fine Genya. Just remember we are all together when it comes to beating demons. Can't become a hashira if you're dead." Genya nodded and gave a small smile.
