Drowning

You were on a boat party with the boys and their wives. You had had way to much to drink and were stumbling about the yacht dancing to the music. You fell into Gary.
"Love take it easy yeah"
"I'm fine Gaz.. just these blooming heels"
He smiled and kissed your cheek. Someone passed you a drink. You spat it out and moved over to get some water. Someone knocked into you causing you to fall into the water. You were being pulled down by the dress and had gone unconscious due to the large amount of drink and the impact of the fall. Gary threw his drink to the side and dived in after you. He pulled you closer to the boat and got the boys to pull you up. He started to splutter as they helped drain the water and bring you back around. You tried to steady your breathing and stop yourself from choking. Gary grabbed a hold of you and rubbed your back.
"It's okay get it up"
"Gary"
"It's okay.. come on, let's get you changed"
He took you to your room on the boat and handed you and new dress out of the wardrobe. He ran his hand across your face and started to cry.
"What.. what is it"
"I thought.. I thought I was going to lose you"
"No.. oh baby I'm sorry"
"You don't have to be sorry.. I just.. I worry that's all"
"I'm fine Gaz.. I promise"
"Good.. because.. I don't know what I would have done if.. if you didn't come back up"
He started to sob. You let him fall into your arms and kissed his head as his shoulders shook.
"Hey.. I'm okay, theres no need to cry"
"I was so scared y/n"
"I know darling.. I was too.. but I really am okay Gary.. I swear to you.. I just had a bit of a scare that's all"
"Yeah a bloody big one"
He placed a hand on his chest and sighed.
"This is pathetic"
"Listen to me... nothing about you is pathetic.. breathe Gary"
He nodded and took a hold of your hand.
"That's it.. I'm here"
"I'm sorry.. you must be so scared and I'm.. making this about me.. I'm so selfish"
"Enough Gary.. don't listen to what's in your head"
"I can't do that.. they're all so loud"
"Shut them out.. focus on Me.. you are the kindest, bravest, sexiest man I've ever met.. you make me feel so loved Gary.. and i promise to stay by your side for the rest of our lives"
"You really mean all that"

He wiped his eyes and stood up sorting his jacket.
"You know.. I don't feel like partying now.. let's get changed. Lie in bed.. let's have tonight to ourselves"
"Y/n.. you don't have to do that"
"Gary I won't enjoy myself now.. please lie with me"
"You don't have to ask"
"Good.. because if I'm being honest.. tonight really scared me y/n.. I think it's the worst I've felt I'm my life"
"You don't have to feel bad now.. I'm here.. I'm safe"

He heard muffled screaming coming from the bath room. He opened her door and threw a dark figure to the side. Whoever this was had held you underwater in the back. Your body floated there lifeless. Gary threw punch after punch and tore the ski mask off their face. He stumbled back in shock. He was looking at himself.
"NO.. NO I DIDNT.. NOT Y/N"
He jolted up and tried to steady his breathing pattern. You tried to grab a hold of his shoulders. He was still coming out of the dream and swung his hand at your face. You cupped your cheek in pain. He realised what he had done and stood up shaking his head.
"Oh god I'm sorry.. oh god.. I.. didn't mean to.. what have I done"
You ran over to him and grabbed his hands.
"It's okay"
"Don't touch me"
He pulled away and started to cry.
"Im sorry.. I never meant to hit you.. you left him because he hit you and now.. oh god please forgive me"
"Gary enough"
"I hurt you.. I can't live with myself knowing that I hurt you"
"GARY"
He looked at you and let the tears run down his face.
"I'm fine.. I'm not hurt"
"Look at what I did.. look at what I did to your beautiful face"
He ran a finger over your cheek and sat on the bed still crying. You grabbed a hold of his shoulders and kissed his forehead.
"Gary I'm okay"
"You're just saying that"
"No I'm not.. Gary I told you when I left Robbie that I wouldn't stand for that kind of abuse anymore.. I wouldn't be sitting here holding you if I didn't mean it"
He turned to you and wiped his eyes.
"Are you sure"
"I'm positive.. now tell me what this nightmare was all about"
He gulped and cleared his throat.
"I was.. I heard screaming.. coming from the bathroom, I opened the door and there was this.. man.. holding you underwater in the tub.. I pulled him off.. you were gone y/n.. I started to beat the shit out of him.. I pulled his ski mask off.. it was me y/n.. I killed you, i held you under"
"Gary.. I told you I'm fine.. today was just.. it was an accident"
"It's not just about today though is it"
He sighed and shook his head.
"How many times over the years have I held you back.. today it was like a reminder that we don't have all the time in the world.. that dream it was me killing You slowly throughout the years y/n.. I don't want to be a burden"
"What are you talking about.. Gary you gave me a life worth living, don't you ever think that you bring me down do you hear me"
"I just felt so.. disgusted with myself.. and then I hit you I.. I don't know who I am anymore"
"You are the man I fell in love with all those years ago.. you are my best friend and my soulmate.. please Gary.. don't let today ruin you.. you've come so far.. shut all those voices in your head out"

"You can"
You pulled him closer to you and started to kiss his head. You ran your finger through his hair and mumbled sweet nothings into his ear.
"Y/n.."
"What is it Gaz"
"Don't stop.. don't leave me"
"Never Gary.. never"
"If you ever feel like walking away.. promise me you won't"
"Hey look at me.. I'll never walk away"
He nodded and kissed your neck. You wrapped your arms around him and started to kiss under his ear.
"You're perfect"
"So are you"
