Sunlight in my eyes

It had been a month and half since you and Gary had decided to shut yourselves off from the outside world. You were sat having breakfast when Gary looked out the window and sighed.
"Anything on your mind Gaz"
"It's just such a nice day considering it's the start of winter.. I want to go out y/n"
"Are you sure"
"I think I'm ready"
You smiled and kissed his cheek.
"That's great Gaz. Where do you want to go"
"How about a walk around the park.. you remember that time I took you there for ice cream.. that was the day I nearly told you how I felt"
"Gaz.. I know it might not have seemed like it but I felt the same"
"I know.. I'll go and get dressed"
"Okay.. I'll be up once I've done the dishes"
"I'll do those when we come back"
"Okay.. thanks"
Both you and Gary went to get changed. It was cold so you wrapped up in a hat and scarf. The only benefit of winter was at least you were semi hidden from the paparazzi. You opened the door and walked outside, Gary was stood at the door.
"You okay"
"I know I said I was ready but.. what if someone recognises me"
"Gary.. you shouldn't be scared to go out"
"I know but I am.. I'm terrified y/n"
"Okay look.. why don't we take this in little steps okay.. first step walk out the door.. no one can hurt you here.. we'll just stand here for a minute okay"
He walked out beside you and shivered at the cold breeze.
"See you're fine"
"What's the next step"
"We walk down to the car.. you can do that"
He took your hand and walked down to the car. Yous shut the doors and turned to each other.
"Now we drive to the park.. you're doing so well Gaz"
"This is stupid it's a trip to the park and I'm acting as if it's a mission to mars"
"Gary this is a really hard thing to do after what you've been through.. your stronger than you think"
You drove to the park and held his hand.
"Now we go for a walk"
"Y/n look how many people there are.. I can't do this let's just go home"
"Okay look little steps remember.. why don't we give it a go and if you still want to leave then we'll jump straight back in the car and drive home"
"Okay"
You opened your door and walked over to Gary's side. He stepped out of the car and sighed.
"Ready"
"Ready"
Yous started to walk around Hyde park. Gary breathed a sigh of relief and closed his eyes as the fresh air hit his face.
"This feels good"
"I'm so proud of you"
Gary kissed you and hung his head low as someone stared at you two whilst they were walking past.
"Everyone's looking at me"
"It's okay Gary I'm here.. no one can hurt you when I'm by your side remember"
He nodded and continued to walk around the park.
He laughed as a nearby dog rolled around in dirt and got yelled at by their owner.
"You're looking a lot better Gaz"
He smiled and sat on a bench beside the pond. You took his hand in yours and rested your head on his shoulder.
"It's been hard y/n.. but you've.. you've really been there for me and I can't thank you enough"
"Hey.. it's okay, it's what we do"
A dog came running up and jumped up beside Gary. A woman came after it and started to apologise.
"I'm so sorry"
"That's quite alright"
"Oh my god.. you're that Gary Barlow"
"Sorry you must have me mistaken with someone else"
"No I know it's you"
You leaned in and spoke to the woman.
"Sorry do you mind.. we're trying to keep out of the public eye.. stay out of the paparazzi's way"
"Oh yeah sorry.. would it be okay if I had a photo with you both"
Gary started to shake his head.
"I don't know.. sorry"
"Please.. I won't show it to anyone just me"
"Okay just one"
She took the photo and walked off with her dog. Gary sighed heavily.
"It's okay.. you handled that really well Gaz"
"It's getting cold.. can we go home"
"Yeah of course"
You drove home and were just about to sit down when you're shopping delivery arrived. You started to take the shopping in when a couple of reporters showed up at your gate. You quickly grabbed the shopping and took it inside.
"Those bloody paps are back"
"Again.. have they not got bored yet"
"I know babe.. I know"
You started to check off the order and sighed.
"Shit.. they've left out like five things.. I'm going to have to go to the shops and pick them up.. will you be okay whilst im gone"
"Yeah.. I'll miss you"
"I'll miss you more.. I'll be back in ten okay"
He nodded and kissed you goodbye.

You opened the door and called out for Gary.
"Babe I'm home"
The house fell silent until you heard soft cries coming from the living room. You walked in to find Gary in tears.
"Hey.. what's wrong"
He pointed to the tv. It was a celebrity comedy show. The ones that took the piss out of people in the spotlight had grown severely popular over the years.
"What's up with that Barlow boy. I mean he locked himself up in the mansion I thought well he's gotta come out at some point. Hell until the other day I thought he'd ate the Mrs"
The crowd laughed. You grabbed the remote and turned it off.
"Why are you watching that"
"I just turned on the tv.. i first it was just comedy I thought it might cheer me up a bit.. then that started.. I couldn't turn it off"
"Gary.. none of that's true.. they're horrible people with no regard for anyone else"
"I wish I was never put in that stupid band"
"Gary"
"No just.. just leave me alone"
He walked up the stairs still crying. An hour later you brought him up a cup of tea.
"I made you a cuppa"
"I don't want it"
"At least talk to me Gary.. it'll be a weight off your shoulders"
"I don't want to talk about it.. I don't even want to think about it.. I just want everyone to forget I exist"
"Not everyone Gaz, you don't want me to forget.. or you're family to forget"
"Y/n if it came to it.. I would choose for everyone to forget I exist"
You nodded and sighed.
"Okay.. I'll leave you be then"
"Y/n.. I'm sorry"
"You don't have to apologise.. let me know if you need anything okay"
You sat on the sofa downstairs and called Marge.
"Hello"
"Marge.. it's me"
"Hello dear.. everything okay"
You started to cry.
"It's Gary Marge, he's really not coping"
"Okay dear it's okay"
"No it's not Marge.. he's really not well"
"Me and Colin will be right round okay.. sit tight"
Soon they were stood at your door. They both came in and sat down beside you. Colin put an arm on your back.
"He's lucky to have you y/n.. you keep him afloat"
"I don't how much longer I can Col.. you haven't seen him"
Yous all turned around as Gary walked through the living room door.
"Mum, dad.. what are you.."
"I called them Gaz.. I'm worried about you and I didn't know how to help"
"So you called my parents.. I thought this was between us y/n I thought you we agreed we wouldn't bother them"
"You're not bothering us son if somethings wrong then we can help"
"Nothings wrong I'm fine"
"Gary"
"I SAID IM FINE"
"Okay son no need to shout"
"No need.. NO NEED, YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IVE BEEN THROUGH"
"Gaz I'm sorry"
"You told me Y/n that it was just me and you, that I was safe here"
"You are safe here.. you're safe with me Gary of course you are"
"YOURE JUST LIKE THEM.. GOING BEHIND MY BACK AND TREATING ME LIKE SCUM"
You let the tears roll down your cheeks.
"Gary I.."
"No enough.. I can't even look at you just now"
"Okay.. i erm.. I'm gonna go"
"Y/n dear you don't need to.. let's just talk and sort this all out"
You looked at Gary who had tears in his eyes. His face was filled with anger.
"Sorry Marge.. I better go"
You grabbed your keys and drove around in your car. You pulled over into a lay by and started to cry. You didn't want to leave him, you wanted to help and thought that was the only way. Suddenly your phone started to ring.
"Hello"
"Y/n"
"Gary.. look im sorry I didn't mean to go behind your back"
You stopped speaking when you heard him struggling to breathe.
"Gary.. Gary what's wrong"
"I can't breathe.."
"Gary stay on the line okay I'm coming"
You raced back to the house and swung the door open.
"GARY"
You found him lying against the bed shaking.
"Hey hey.. I'm here, it's okay"
"Don't leave me.. it didn't mean it, I need you"
"I'm not leaving.. look I'm sorry I shouldn't have called your parents"
"No I'm sorry.. I shouldn't have shouted at you.. you didn't deserve that but I can't live without I can't get through this without you"
"Okay okay.. come here"
"I'm sorry"
"It's okay, you don't have to be sorry"
"Just promise me I won't lose you"
"I promise.. it's going to be okay just breathe"
He steadied his breathe and held onto you tightly. This was the worst you had ever seen him.
"Gary I'm worried about you"
"Don't be I'm fine"
"Gary.. we both know that's not true"
"Look I promise I'll be fine.. I just can't talk about it right now"
"Okay well I'm here when you do"
He kissed your cheek and wiped his eyes.
