I dropped my bags by the sunroom and gave Vaeda some affection. She was happy to see me.
"You said you weren't mad?"

I watched Victor slowly make his way down the stairs with his head down..
I wasnt gonna bitch at him. I've done stupid shit in my life. When I was 12 I "ran away" from home lmao. Didn't get very far & was dragged back *kicking and screaming. Never attempted that shit again. Cus my mom said two words that got me to stfu & start acting right. Boarding School.
And I know she meant it.
*crying like a little bitch.
But anyway.. I gave him a hug and checked him all over to make sure he was okay. Other than the sucken eyes he looked like he was in good health.
"You hungry? I brought you some lunch." I made him follow me into the kitchen so we could eat together.
He asked about my trip as i unpacked everything.
"It was good. I was only there for the night." I handed him his plate and we had a seat at the table.
Chris said they were releasing Lea in a few hrs. Her family did not take the news well.. she doesn't wanna talk about what happened with her parents. And he's concerned about her cus she can't stop crying.
I wouldn't be able to stop crying if that happened to me. He just needs to give her alittle time.. I know he's feeling guilty about everything but it's out of his control. She'll talk about it when she's ready.
It was hard seeing them go through this.. Now that I'm back home all my focus is on this kid again. I wanna help him but idk how Im gonna do it.
He wasn't talking much but I assumed he was just tired. I have no idea where he's been these last few days and he wouldn't tell me. He just said he was somewhere with 4 walls. 🤦🏽♀️
"The bruises faded..." he looked me over like I did to him. "You ever gonna tell me who it was?"
I shook my head. Landon has been real quiet since I filed that police report but nothing ever came of it. Literally wasted my fucken time.
"Did the other kids go back home?"
"Yeah.. their dad picked them up the other day." They haven't stopped texting me that they miss me and I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss them too lol.
It's so quiet here without them.
"What about Mace?"
"Mason works all day but sometimes he comes home to have lunch.. I dropped him off a plate tho so he wouldn't drop in unexpectedly today. I was thinking we should keep it quiet that you're staying here." Atleast until I figure out what to do next.
"Its still cool if I crash here, right?"
I mean.. yes?
The trouble is.. his uncle is watching me now. He's not that stupid, he knows I'm helping these kids.. but now Victor has a warrant out for failing to appear in court. Tommy knew he was a runaway risk. I guess i knew it deep down too but I really didn't think he'd throw it all away just like that. I gotta convince him to call his lawyer to see if there's any chance she can get that resolved.
"Let's hold off on letting people see you here. For a day or two.. until I figure out how to deal with your uncle." I gotta get that man to back off.
Tommys not the kinda guy that will give up so easily.. i thank the marines for that.. once he sets his focus on something, he will not stop until he gets what he wants. If he suspects I've had contact with victor, that means he will not be going away any time soon.
