RHEA JACKSON WAS A TROUBLED KID. Hey, can you really blame her though? With her dyslexia and ADHD diagnoses, it made it almost impossible to pay attention in a classroom, much less do well academically in school. Despite all that, she still tried her hardest and stayed out of everyone's way, but that did her little good. Her twin brother, Percy Jackson is the most annoying and insufferable asshat that was ever to be born in a century. He made enemies wherever he went, and she was always dragged into it.
No matter how hard she tried, she could never dodge his brother's troubles. Especially on field trips.
Squished in a school bus filled with sweaty kids wasn't Rhea's idea of fun, but she had no say in it as they rode to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The school bus was filled with loud laughter. Kids behaving like wild animals- throwing balls of paper, pencils, and even, god forbid, food, everywhere. She cringed and sank lower in her seat.
Next to her was her twin brother Percy, who was looking like he was in the same boat as her. The only good thing that came out of coming to Yancy Academy- a school for troubled kids- was making their only friend named Grover. I know, depressing, right?
"I'm going to kill her," Rhea seethed, her normally controlled temper non-existent as she watched the school bully, Nancy Bobofit, throw clumps of her peanut butter and ketchup sandwich at the back of Grover's head.
No you will not.
It was that voice again in her head, echoing softly, as if trying to calm her down. Ever since she was little, her mother had told her stories of the Greek Gods, and Apollo had always been her favorite. She would pray to him almost every night, having one sided conversations that would last for hours on end.
After about a week, she was startled to suddenly hear a voice in her head, replying to her prayers. Turns out, it was Apollo who answered her, and that was how she found out about how Greek Gods were actually real and not just stories.
He had warned her not to tell anyone, as knowing who she really was- a demigod- would make them more attracted to monsters. She countered by questioning why he had appeared in the first place if she wasn't meant to discover her demigod status.
And that was how she bonded with the God of the Sun.
you can't stop me
She whined childishly.
Rhea Andromeda Jackson. You do as I say.
Apollo's cautionary tone elicited a slight huff of irritation from the girl, who unconsciously played with her bow and arrow necklace—a gift from Apollo himself.

Fine
His voice turned fond, chuckling softly at her expense.
