CHAPTER THIRTEEN: The bitter feeling of depression

Me and Kanna asked my mum if she could drive us to the hospital.

Before my mum could start parking at the hospital, me and Kanna stumbled out the car and sped over to the hospital entrance. We arrived at the reception soon after that.
"H-Hello! We are here to see a friend... d-do you know Yimika?" I asked whilst panting. The receptionist said,
"Oh, yes. They're in that room over there." We immediately ran to the room, amd our eyes widened.

Yimika was crying next to their mother who's on the bed, with a white sheet over Yimika's mother.

Don't you dare tell me..

"Mother, why? WHY?! I CAN'T BE HERE ALONE! YOU KNOW MY FATHER'S ABUSIVE! HE'S COMING BACK AND TRYING TO TAKE ME! I CAN'T— I... I can't do this..."
Me and Kanna froze. Yimika's father was abusive and now coming back for them? How can we help..?
"Y-Yimika..."
"Why did you not tell us...?"
We both stood through the door frame. Yimika turned around and their eyes widened. They began shaking, now realizing me and Kanna know about Yimika's past.
"Y-You guys... wait... h-how..." Kanna was first to speak.
"We were looking for you! Kobu ran into me whilst I was having an asthma attack! Thankfully, she gave me her spare inhaler. And we decided to look for you!" I then spoke up.
"Yeah, Yimika.., we never knew this about you. Why would you not tell us? We're your friends! We'll understand everything you sa—" Yimika interrupted me.
"No, Kobu... listen.. I—"
"I-I'm sorry, but you kept saying you were fine, even though you weren't. You made us so worried!" Yimika's eyes were red due to crying and losing their mother.

"Kobu, K-Kanna... i-i'm sorry. I just didn't want you guys to be worried! I had to hid it... I-I had to lie... I'm sorry.."
I sighed and look at them with a sympathetic look. Kanna looked a bit sad.
"Yimika... I-I can't process this... mind explaining?"
"Sure."
