IT WAS THE end of the day, leading into the evening all high school students were looking forward to all of their parties. Just because Maggie's friends were probably going to be at Tina's party doesn't mean she couldn't show up. This meant that she was going to show up fashionably late with eye candy on her hip.
Billy Hargrove's locker was just a few away from Maggies. Shocker that they've never had an interaction before now. Maybe it was something in the air, maybe the planets aligned for this moment but Maggie felt eyes on her. She didn't know for sure if it was Billy but she played it safe.
The skirt she was wearing sometimes went up a little too high when she put her arms above her head and her Little Women book sat on the very top shelf. She hasn't touched that book in months, stopping her third reread to read Fahrenheit 451. But it was calling her name.
She wasn't tall enough to reach the top shelf, so she really was struggling to grab it. That wasn't part of the act. Maggie pulled it off the shelves with her finger tips and it slipped down, falling on the floor. That wasn't apart of the act either. Out of her peripherals, she saw Billy. In the blue jeans that drove Allie crazy the first time she saw him. But this time he was in a white button up and leather jacket.
Maggie didn't want to fully look over so she shifted her eyes. Looking Billy up and down, he did the same to her. She bent over, not wanting to completely flash him but she could've just left the book there and walk off, his eyes would've still followed her. He didn't know anything about her other than the fact that she drove a killer car, but he was intrigued by her.
His eyes lowered as she bent down to pick up the book off the floor and he continued watching her as she wrapped her arm around the book. She reached into her locker again and grabbed a red lipgloss. She kept a compact mirror in there as well so when she pulled it out, she faced Billy.
The tip of the lipgloss brushed against her lips, her eyes hovering just past the top of the mirror and looking straight at Billy. He looked like a dog begging for a bone. Who knew this was going to be so easy?
She placed the lipgloss and mirror back into her locker, slamming it with her hip. She broke eye contact with the curly haired boy, making him think that he won. That he was the one in control. Maggie looked as if she was about to pass him, as she did, she placed her hand into his. She dragged her fingertips along his hand, placing a folded note into his palm. When she wrote this note? No one knows but, Billy watched the teen walked off. Her hair was bouncing, her skirt was swaying, she was perfect.
'Pick me up at Benny's at 10'
The note was written in flawless cursive. A small red heart sat on the corner of the paper, in the same red ink the note was written in.
When Billy looked back up to Maggie, she was pushing open the front doors and quickly walking to her car.
