Harrison sighed and took a pull on his cigarette. Then he folded his arms and looked Blaine in the eyes. "So you bailed on the job?"

"Not without reason." Blaine shrugged. "I'd got the target lined up, and I was ready to pull the trigger. Then ... "

"Then what?"

"I did one last sweep to check for observers. Mulligan was on the other side from me. He was lining up for a shot on the target. My target."

"So you took Mulligan out instead?"

"Yes. Clean shot, too."

"Why?" Harrison asked.

Blaine smirked. "Couldn't have him nicking my lunch money, could I?"
