—"MEOW!!"—
Sunny's desperate cry and his claws digging into her skin through her pijamas quickly caused (Y/N) to wake up with a violent jerk.
Her cat remained in place, ferociously hissing at something. (Y/N) on the other hand, was sitting and breathing heavily and rapidly, gripping her bedsheets tightly as she gets over the shock from nearly falling to her death in her dream... It wasn't just a dream, was it?
She gets her answer when she feels the skin on her forearm sting. Her eyes narrowed when she saw her sleeve teared, like by some sort of claws, and small cuts on her skin that leaked bits of blood.
She remains still for a while, staring at her arm in sheer shock. How is this possible?! How did her wounds appear in real life?! Who exactly is Freddy Krueger and how did he do that?!
She shakes her head and then sighs heavily, y'know what, whatever. She'll wonder about 'whats' and 'hows' later, she should check her injuries first.
She gently nudges Sunny, who suddenly jumps away with another hiss, though his hostility wasn't even directed to her. (Y/N) furrows her brows and drags her gaze to the same direction as her cat, which was focused on the window, precisely the one connected with the fire exit staircase. She stares at the dark curtains covering the window, which made it impossible to see what's at the other side.
Sunny is tense, back arched and tail up, fur puffed, eyes wide with thin pupils. He keeps occasionally growling and hissing at the window, which leaded (Y/N) to believe that a pair of drunk teens or drug addicts somehow made their way to the staircase, again, and were hanging out there. It happened ones... And that's the main reason why the curtains on this specific window always remain closed.
She sighs as she stands up and makes her way to the bathroom to check the wounds, luckily only her forearm seemed to be truly damaged. The slash on her back only teared her shirt and left faint reddish marks on her skin, but didn't pierce it, same thing with her neck and other areas that the burned man slid his razor blades on. She cleans her wound with alcohol, who knows what kind of diseases these blades could carry, and then wraps a bandage.
Ones her forearm was treated she returned to her bedroom, Sunny seemed a bit more relaxed yet he kept his gaze glued to that damn window, his tail wagging angrily as he growls once in a while.
—"Sunny?"— you ask as you make your way towards him, the cat barely acknowledging you. —"What is it buddy? Another hobo bothering our sleep, huh?"—
Even after taking a seat next to her pet, the cat didn't calm down. She sighs and carefully drags her hand closer to him, her movements slow and cautious.
—"It's okay Sunny, really. No one will knock on my window to ask for a lighter like the last time, we're safe, right?"— you talk in a calm and slight quiet voice, your hand basically next to the cat but not touching him.
But the cat remained the same, tense and hostile. It made (Y/N)'s stomach twist uncomfortably and feel less safe. If her cat haven't calm down yet then that means someone must be near her window, near enough to keep Sunny agitated.
With a shaky exhale she stands up and makes her way to the kitchen, to then silently return with a pretty big frying pan in hand. The girl makes her way to the closed curtains, her movements slow and cautious, her heartbeat strong. Being this close she can almost feel it too, feel someone's heavy breathing agains the glass as their eyes pierce her form from the other side through the fabric and the darkness of her room.
She holds her breath and tightens her grip on the pan as she grabs the curtain, and with a quick jerk she opens it, revealing...
Nothing, absolutely nothing. Well, except a random rat running down the empty staircase after getting startled by her.
