Long time, no see😭.
Well, lemme just use this one and say happy new month. I'm sha trying to finish this book by April next year (idek how possible it'll be, but God is in control).
I won't make any promises, but I'll try my best to make updates come more frequently. I already have the complete draft sha, so it's just actually writing that's the issue, but anyway, enjoy.THIRTY SEVEN

when you tell me your secrets
We made mistakes,
but we both didn't mean it...WILLOW
The moment I heard Larisa was back, I was ready to race back to the hostels to see her. To hug my friend and let her know it'd driven us mad, not knowing her whereabouts.
"Willow, calm down." Iris called after me softly. "I think we should let her settle in and come to us in her own time. We don't want ro scare her away now, do we?"
I smiled with a nod in her direction. The taller girl was making sense. We were currently lounging in the main hall, just using our phones, making videos and small conversation here and there. By "we", I was referring to myself, Iris, Chimdindu and Zaynab. Maina wasn't with us, but he'd promised to join us for lunch. So had Evan, according to Iris, saying he'd bring Larisa along. As for Maia, well, I'd seen her follow after Evan in the direction of the playground. I assumed he'd come with her too, nothing new.
One thing was new though, and that was Evan and Larisa being a team. I couldn't lie by saying I didn't find it suspicious that he was taking a sudden interest in me, but now, Larisa too? The girl had clearly expressed her disdain for him a number of times. Maybe he was just trying to make things right, then?
I smiled, thinking of our meeting in the playground and the gift he'd given me. Deep down, it felt good knowing that Evan was actually trying to get to know me. I tried not to get ahead of myself, thinking the boy might actually be interested in me.
"What's on your mind?" Dindu's mass of hair came in contact with my thighs, as he lowered his head unto my laps. "Is it a boy?" His laugh was teasing as I shoved his head off my body.
"Get off me, you this boy!" I reprimanded playfully and he laughed, sitting up straight, but adjusting his chair so he was facing me.
"You look good." he smiled and I knew he meant more than just my physical appearance. My entire demeanour had shifted greatly, as compared to when I first came here. I guess that was what a near-death experience did to anyone.
"I know." I grinned, flipping my wig over my shoulders. "How are you, though?" I smiled softly at him, raising my eyes as Maina pulled a seat towards us, plopping down on it afterwards, but staring into the distance.
"Guy," Chimdindu fisted his shoulder, making the boy snap out of whatever trance he'd been in, and look between both of us as though he hadn't even realized we were the ones he was sitting with. I didn't fail to notice the clenching of his jaw as he stole a glance at something—or someone—behind me, before turning back to Dindu with a lopsided smile.
"Try de leave babes for us too, nah." Maina spoke Pidgin freely, in mock humility. "Everyone loves you already, what about us? Àbí is it a crime to be ugly?"
