Soon they heard a knock on the door.

Diya's mother wiped her tears and said "Come in".

The door opened revealing Mrs. Anushka Vikram Singh Rathore and Riya's mother.

"Namaste (greeting), I am Anushka, Rishabh's chachi (Rishabh's younger Uncle's wife)" she said with a smile adorning her face.

"Namaste (greeting)" replied Diya's mother in a low tone.

"She is looking so beautiful. Let's take her downstairs, we are getting late" she said, to which Diya's mother smiled and Riya's mother rolled her eyes.

Diya's mother pulled her ghunghat (veil) down, then Diya stood up and they took her downstairs.

They brought the bride to the mandap.

As she came closer, Rishabh stood up and went near her holding his hand out for her to hold. After thinking for a moment she held his hand and he helped her to sit.

All of their moments and acts were being monitored by media and relatives so they needed to behave to maintain their image.

After performing all of the rituals the priest finally declared them as a legally married couple.

Diya was so in shock that her mind couldn't process what just happened.

And on the other hand, Rishabh was feeling something unknown in his heart, he wasn't able to recognize the new feeling.

It was time for vidai (bride's farewell).

Diya's mother was on the edge of crying but controlled.

Diya's father was sad and feeling guilty but what is done is done, nothing can be changed now. His daughter is now stuck with those Rathores till her death. There is no way out. He so much despised the Rathores because they were involved in politics, the underworld and whatnot. It was just too harmful to be a Rathore. Even when Riya got engaged, he tried to stop his brother but his brother was so much into the Rathore business that he didn't care. Today he felt so helpless and useless but he had his own reasons.

Diya was standing there like a statue, she was not crying not even a single tear left her eye, everything was just too much for her to process.

Her dreams and future, which she had been planning for a long time and was so close to achieving, everything ended within a day that too because of her cousin.

And what hurts her the most is that her father, her hero, did nothing for her, he didn't take a stand for his daughter, his only child. Leave everyone else, does he even know how many expectations she had from him?
