As the morning sun rises at 6:30 am in India, rays of sun fall on a girl's face, who is sitting on the floor, hugging her knees and curled up in a ball. The room is all dark, has dust everywhere and is freezing cold.

She slowly opens her eyes, still not in her senses, her whole body is sore. Suddenly the door of the room bursts open revealing an old lady in her late forties dressed like a maid. She looks at the girl with sympathy. She comes closer to the girl, kneeling down at her level. She wipes down her face full of dust and dry tears and speaks.
"Diya, bacha (Child), wake up."
The girl looks up at the woman. She tried to stand but failed miserably and fell down. The woman gasps and holds her. "Beta (Child), be careful. Let me help you."
Both of them leave the room. After taking the girl to her room, the lady goes downstairs to continue her work after all she was just a maid and also had a family to take care of so she would better not interfere.

As I enter the room I jump on my bed. My legs hurt, and I cannot stand even for a single minute. I looked at the room and chuckled bitterly realizing that even the abandoned room was bigger than this. But at the same time, I like it as it is comfortable and matches my vibe. In this whole city, this is the only place where I can find peace even just for a minute.

All I wanted now was a short peaceful nap, but my overthinking self decided to think about the events that occurred last night and I instantly started regretting the decision to come to Mumbai for my studies. After thinking for a while, finally decided to sleep but as soon as I closed my eyes, my phone started ringing, I looked at the caller and it was none other than my lovely and sweetest mom (Mahika Aayush Mehta).
As soon as I picked up the call my mom angrily said "Diya, do you even know for how long I have been calling you ? For god's sake don't do this again I was worried. Where have you been?".
I sighed heavily and replied, "Hi Mom, how are you and Dad doing? It is 6 in the morning so I was sleeping and you know na that when I sleep I put my phone on silent".
She replied, "We both are doing fine. And there is a reason I decided to call you. Actually beta I got a call from your Taya ji (Her father's elder brother) last night, they wanted to talk to your father but I told them that he was sleeping."
My heart clenched after hearing this and I thought why do they need to interfere in my life? I groaned and then asked Mom "What did they say?" expecting something not so harsh.
And mom started speaking, "They told me that you went to a club yesterday and were all drunk when you came back home at late night and you also had an affair and when they confronted you, you accused Riya for all of it".
I replied in an emotionless tone, "Mom, keep a hand on your heart and tell me, do you really think that I would do any of it?".
Mom said, "No beta, I know that my daughter isn't like that but trust me I would have given them a reply, only if I didn't care about your father's health ".
I got worried and asked, "What happened to him?"
Mom sighed "Actually he felt pain in his heart and the doctor said that due to the last heart attack he got, his heart is really sensitive and that we should keep him away from any kind of stress and depression as it can trigger him and he might have a heart attack".
I felt like crying, "Is he fine now?" I asked.
"He is beta, don't worry and just take good care of yourself. Soon you will graduate from the university, and I promise that when me and your father come to Mumbai for Riya's wedding, we will take you with us back to Rajhastan." She said and cut the call.
I sighed in relief and closed my eyes trying to find some peace.
And soon I doze off.
