A few days passed quietly in Kumbhalgarh

A few days passed quietly in Kumbhalgarh.

Things were smooth between Rishabh and me, but the spark of real love or deep connection still hadn't shown up.

One afternoon, the whole family gathered in the dining hall for lunch. Everyone was chatting and laughing as the food was served.

The smell of fresh dishes filled the room, and the mood was light.

While everyone enjoyed their meal, Aera suddenly lit up with excitement.

"Why don't we go explore Kumbhalgarh after lunch, just Rishabh and me?" she said.

Everyone looked up, some confused, some curious.

"The castle has some secret spots and hidden passages," Aera added. "Rishabh, wouldn't it be fun? Just the two of us like old times?"

Rishabh gave her a polite smile and then turned to her calmly. "It does sound fun, Aera. But I can't leave Diya behind. And Krishna would enjoy this too."

Krishna perked up. "I'm totally in! Exploring this place sounds awesome."

I gently placed a hand on his arm. "Then count me in too. It'll be fun if we all go together."

So the plan was made. After lunch, the four of us set out through the castle halls.

The air inside was cool. The sunlight coming in through the windows made shadows on the old stone floors. We walked slowly, looking into every room with curiosity.

The first room had old furniture and was faded.

Krishna was already moving ahead, calling us to follow. We laughed and followed him up a spiral staircase, through narrow hallways, and into big halls filled with old paintings.

Then we found a quiet library. The shelves were full of books covered in dust. Rishabh stopped and picked one up, flipping through its pages.

From there, we discovered a narrow door hidden behind a curtain. It opened into a small courtyard. The moonlight made everything look peaceful.

It felt like time had stopped for a few hours.

But during the whole trip, I noticed Aera watching us. Every time Rishabh smiled at me or walked beside me, her face would change. Just a little. But it was there.

She looked jealous. And maybe even angry.

Krishna must've noticed it too. He walked beside her, trying to talk and make her smile. She laughed along, but her eyes always came back to Rishabh.

When the trip ended, we returned to our guest house.

The sky was soft with evening colours as we walked into our room. It was quiet. Warm. The smell of tea drifted from a corner.

But Rishabh looked restless. He kept fidgeting and didn't look at me.

"Is something wrong?" I asked gently. "You want to say something?"

He sighed and took my hands.

"There's a lot I want to say," he finally said.

I nodded and waited.

He looked into my eyes for a long moment, then began.

"In my life, I didn't expect things to turn out like this. But when you came into it... everything changed."

He paused, then kept going.

"You're smart, kind, and strong. It's not just how you look—it's how you are. You bring calm when things feel messy. You make this place feel like home. You're not a replacement for anyone, Diya. You're... something I never knew I needed."

I stared at him, heart pounding quietly.

"You're not just a chapter in my story," he finished. "You've become the part I can't imagine life without."

My chest felt tight, but in a good way. I didn't know what to say, so I just held his hands tighter.

For once, the silence between us didn't feel heavy.

It felt like something was starting.

Something real.
