tension. december had arrived, blanketing the town in a continuous and enchanting snowfall. however, for y/n, the persistent ice patches had become her unwelcome companions, causing more than a few embarrassing slips.
her feelings for kunimi had continued to grow since their shared moment beneath the first snowfall, and she couldn't help but hope that he felt the same. yet, she had made a promise to herself, a vow to admire him from a distance, sticking to her self-imposed boundaries.
seated together in the cafeteria, y/n gently guided the conversation toward the approaching holiday she had cherished since childhood: christmas.
she turned to her friend mayuko and asked, "what are your christmas wishes, yuko?" mayuko's eyes glittered with enthusiasm at the question, and she playfully teased, "are you planning to shower me with gifts?"
y/n chuckled nervously, a hint of hesitation coloring her voice. "w-well, if i happen to have the money..." she replied tentatively, unsure of what she could afford.
with a hearty laugh, her friend quickly reassured her, "nah, y/n-chi, i'm just teasing! your presence alone is the greatest gift of all!" she said with a smirk, reaffirming the cherished bond of their friendship.
the two best friends continued to relish their meal, their warm smiles a testament to the deep bond of friendship they shared. it was the last school day before the christmas break, and they cherished each other's company.
while y/n adored the christmas season, she couldn't hide her aversion to breaks, knowing her parents' reluctance to let her venture out into the snow. this meant less time with mayuko and, even more disheartening, a two-week separation from kunimi that weighed on her heart.
their conversation was interrupted when kunimi and kindaichi casually strolled by their table. unexpectedly, kunimi came to a halt and turned to face the girls' table.
"takahashi." he called out, his gaze landing on mayuko, who was so surprised she almost choked on her ramen.
mayuko shot a glare at kunimi, demanding, "what?" without any hint of concern for her irritation, he inquired, "will there be practice today?"
"of course there will be practice, and your lazy ass better be there." she retorted firmly. "the snow won't be an excuse for skipping training, especially with the tournament coming up in january."
raising an eyebrow, the male sought clarification. "what tournament are you yapping about, dude? didn't we lose to karasuno?" he asked, turning to kindaichi for confirmation.
