valentines. a month had passed since kunimi and souta's rivalry over y/n's heart had started, and the competition between them showed no signs of decreasing.
during lunch breaks, the two of them engaged in a relentless tug-of-war for the privilege of sitting next to the girl. they constantly vied to offer her snacks or engage in small acts of kindness, their attempts at wooing her escalating with each passing day.
blissfully unaware of their underlying motives, y/n dismissed their actions as mere friendliness.
mayuko and kindaichi, their friends who had been observing the situation unfold, were growing increasingly irritated. every time they witnessed the two rivals secretly glaring at each other, they couldn't help but just sigh in frustration.
however, they had resigned themselves to letting kunimi and souta continue their competition, hoping that one day, the two would find a more peaceful way to resolve their feelings for y/n.
valentine's day, a day filled with love and affection, was a highly anticipated occasion for many, especially those entangled in the threads of young romance.
high school students often looked forward to this day as an opportunity to express their feelings towards their crushes.
however, y/n had let this day slip her mind completely, only realizing its significance when she stepped into her school adorned with valentine's decorations.
she deadpanned and couldn't help but blame herself for the oversight, having forgotten to bake cookies for everyone as she usually did.
mayuko and her boyfriend, kyotani, approached her, concern evident on mayuko's face. "oh? y/n-chi, you look dead!" kyotani, always straightforward, chimed in with a deadpan expression, "no, i think she is dead."
y/n couldn't help but frown, her posture slouched with a sense of defeat. "yuko, i forgot it was valentine's day." she admitted with a heavy sigh.
mayuko's frown mirrored hers, and without hesitation, she enveloped her friend in a warm and comforting hug. "it's okay." she reassured her, gently patting her back.
"good morning, my friends!" kindaichi announced cheerfully as he jogged toward the group, with kunimi following closely behind.
in his hands, kindaichi held a box of beautifully decorated cupcakes, and he offered one to each member of the group with a warm smile. "happy valentine's day." he greeted them.
