"I want you guys to forget everything you think you know about the games. Last year was child's play. This year, you're dealing with all experienced killers." Haymitch poured himself a drink as he spoke to Katniss and Peeta. "Alright, what does that mean for us?" Peeta asked, shifting in his seat. "That means you're gonna have to have some allies." Haymitch told them.
"Okay, I think that--"
"Sh, you're not the problem." Haymitch cut Peeta off as he pointed repeatedly to Katniss. Katniss shook her head, "No."
"Look, you're starting at a disadvantage. Most of these people have been friends for years." Haymitch sat down in front of Katniss. "That just puts us higher on their kill list." Katniss recoiled.
"Do it your own way, but I know these people. You go in alone, their first move is going to be to hunt you down. Both of you." Haymitch looked between Katniss and Peeta.
"Katniss, come on." Peeta whispered to her. Katniss thought for a moment before looking back at Haymitch. "How could any of us even trust each other?" She asked.
"It's not about trust. It's about staying alive." Haymitch stood up, turning on a TV. There, he showed Katniss and Peeta the tributes when they were reaped. First was District 1. "Cashmere and Gloss. Brother and Sister, District 1. They won back to back games, Capitol favorites, lots of sponsors. They will be lethal." Haymitch switched to District 2.
"And the other half of the career pack. Brutus and Enobaria."
"What's with her teeth?" Katniss asked, interrupting Haymitch. "She had them filed into fangs so she could rip people's throats out." Haymitch casually said. "She's committed, I'll give her that." Peeta commented. Next was District 3.
"Wiress and Beetee. Not fighters, but brilliant and.. weird. Real tech-savvy. He won his games by electrocuting six tributes at once." Haymitch informed. He skipped over 4 and 5, instead moving on to District 6.
"The Morphlings, master of camouflage. Basically won their games by hiding until everyone else was dead. Self medicating ever since, which I applaud, Not a threat." Haymitch concluded.
