Meara ran threw the thick sand. She panted, multiple cannons going off in the distance. All she had was a backpack with her, which she had no idea what was inside. As she ran, she was suddenly tackled to the ground. She struggled, trying to get away. Her only thoughts was that she was going to die in the first ten minutes of her games. Before the man who tackled her could attack, his head was cut with an axe. Meara gasped, pushing the dead body off of her. She looked up to see a girl. "Hi, I'm Eleanor." The girl extended her hand. "Meara." Meara whispered, taking her hand and pulling herself up.

Meara was sitting against a tree, trying to go to sleep. Finnick and Katniss was in the same spot while Peeta lay a few feet away. Meara hadn't gotten much sleep last night, and never felt all that safe in the arena even with Finnick on watch. Suddenly, loud bells rang in the air. Peeta shot up, looking around. Finnick and Katniss raised their heads. Meara opened her eyes, not wanting to move too much to wake herself up.

Meara's hand shifted to her trident, just in case. "I counted twelve." Katniss whispered to Finnick, not knowing anyone else was awake. "Midnight?" Finnick questioned. "Or the number of Districts." Katniss added. Suddenly, lighting struck at the big tree straight across from where they set up camp. Meara thought it was nothing, so she closed her eyes once again. The only thoughts she had was of Ezra. She shifted a little, trying to get him out of her mind, even though she had no idea what they did to him. She felt something touch her arm. She jumped, moving to the side a little.

"Woah, woah. Are you okay?" Finnick slowly approached her, sitting down beside her. "Yeah. Yeah, sorry." Meara whispered, rubbing her head. "Nightmares already?" Finnick asked. "Sort of. Something happened to Ezra. Right before I entered the arena." Meara whispered to him. Finnick raised his eyebrow at her as he threw an arm over her shoulder, pulling her into him. "If you don't mind me asking, what happened?" Finnick asked.

"I didn't see most of it. I saw, what looked to be, a peacekeeper walk up behind Ezra. The next thing I know there was a gunshot and then I was in the arena and knew I couldn't think about that." Meara explained. "Jesus, Meara." Finnick whispered, shocked about the news.
