Finnick and Meara ran around the sand, happily. Finnick tackled Meara to the ground, getting sand in her mouth. "Finnick! You said you wouldn't do that again!" Meara whined, standing up. In doing so, she spit out the sand that got in her mouth. Finnick chuckled, rubbing Meara's head. "Okay, okay. I won't do it again I promise." Finnick held out his pinky. Meara cocked her head to the side, looking at his pinky. "What are you doing?" She asked. "It's a pinky promise." Finnick responded. "What's that?" Meara asked, intrigued. Finnick grabbed her pinky, linking it with his. "A pinky promise means you can trust me, and I can trust you."

Finnick and Meara sat in a secluded room as they waited to see if the games were still on. Sage and Mags walked into the room slowly. Meara's head perked up. "Unfortunately, words just weren't enough. The games are still on." Sage bowed her head. Meara looked at the ground once again. "This is goodbye. For now, at least." Sage whispered. Mags walked up to Meara and Finnick, pulling them both in a hug. Meara hugged back gently. When Mags pulled away, she kissed Finnick and Meara's foreheads.

"Oh, goodness." Sage cried, hugging Meara and Finnick aswell. Sage and Mags left the room leaving Meara and Finnick alone. Meara turned to look at Finnick. "Who were you talking to?" Meara asked.

"What?" Finnick looked at her. "Your speech. During the interview. Who were you talking to? Annie?" Meara asked. Finnick shook his head, chuckling. "I can't believe you're so oblivious."

Meara furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. "You, Meara. I was talking about you." Finnick reached for her hand. "No, no you weren't. Parts of that speech wouldn't make sense if it were me. Like the lips part." Meara scooted away.

"Then let's change that." Finnick simply said. "What?" Meara asked, looking at him in the dimly lit room. "Let's make it true." Finnick shrugged, scooting closer to her. "Finnick, you have no idea what you're doing. Trust me." Meara whispered to him. "No, I do. Meara, I've loved you since we were kids. I promise I've loved you since... forever basically." Finnick whispered.
