"There's some training before Caesar's show. That should give you two enough time to make more allies." Sage said, to Meara and Finnick. "More allies? Isn't Finnick and Johanna enough? Maybe Blight if he sticks with her." Meara crossed her arms. Sage turned to Meara. "Are you sure it's completely unreasonable to form more alliances?" Sage put on a fake smile. Meara stayed quiet. "Meara Rivers." Haymitch and Plutarch walked into the room. Finnick only smirked. Meara had a sense that he knew what was going on. "Yeah?" Meara stood up, walking over to them. They led her to a secluded room. They sat across from her.
"What if we told you that there's a way to get you and Finnick out alive?" Haymitch started. Meara suddenly sat up straight. "There's a way? What way?" Meara frantically asked. "Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark." Plutarch finished. Meara furrowed her eyebrows. "How are they going to help?"
"Katniss is going to be the face of the rebellion. All you have to do is align with Katniss and Peeta and keep them alive. Even if it means risking your own life." Haymitch stated.
"What does this have to do with Peeta then?" Meara asked.
"Katniss won't do it if Peeta is dead." Plutarch simply answered. "I assume they're on board with this plan then?"
"Oh, no, we haven't told either of them." Haymitch said. "What? Why?" Meara looked between the two men. "It's a lot to explain right now. I gave Finnick something that ensures Katniss that she has you two as allies." Haymitch explained.
"Who else knows?"
"District 3, District 11, District 6, District 7, and District 4." Meara nodded noticing the career pack wasn't involved. "Are you in, Meara?" Plutarch asked.
"I assume Finnick said yes, correct?"
"He did." Haymitch nodded. Meara thought for a moment. If she said yes, that meant she would have to risk her life for two people she barely knew anything about. "Yes." She nodded. "I'm in."
Plutarch smiled. "Perfect. We will give you further details." Plutarch and Haymitch stood up, walking out of the room. Moments later, Finnick arrived. "Ready for training?" He asked, smiling. Meara rolled her eyes, but she nodded.
When they arrived at the training area, they immediately split up. Meara went to pick out a trident which she was very skilled with. She started to swing it around. It felt comfortable enough. She found a stick, and sat down starting to carve something into it.
