Wake up call

Several long hours have passed when Law finally finished putting Kid back together. Even with the abilities of his devil fruit it took some time. The damage that Sabo did was great. With a sigh he started cleaning up his mess, putting equipment away and disposing of the soiled items.

He happened to catch a glimpse out of the corner of his eye of Alexis. She was out cold on a near by bed as she refused to leave either of them alone. He didn't blame her. She was afraid of actually losing Eustass this time. He allowed it as long as she stayed out of the way, which she quickly agreed to.

Drying his hands after washing them, he made his way over to her, watching as her chest steadily rises and falls. She had been a light guiding through his darkest of times these past few months, never once asking for anything in return and always wearing a kind and loving smile, speaking words of encouragement and reinforcing how much she loves and cares for him.

He was the one supposed to be taking care of her, but somehow the roles were switched. He didn't know what he would have done without her. He just wished there was some way to repay her kindness and love.

He gently brushed a strand of hair that had fallen in her face back behind her ear. Leaning forward, he placed a gentle kiss to her forehead. "I love you, Alexis-ya." He whispered softly before returning to his desk to finish up some paper work.

Flash back

A day passed as Alexis patiently waited for Law to wake up. So much happened in just 24 hours and she was still trying to process it. Glancing over at Law as she sits beside the bed he was resting in, her eyes teared up at the bandages that now wrap around both his arms. She blamed herself for not being there more for him. A lot of what if scenarios constantly kept running through her mind, though she kept reminding herself that all that doesn't matter, as long as she does better from now on.

The door opened but she refused to take her eyes off Law, afraid he'll wake up if she turned away for one second.

"Alexis?"

She was pulled out of her thoughts at the doctor's call. "Yes?" Not even looking at the little reindeer.

"You need to go shower and then eat something. It's not good for the babies is you start neglecting yourself." Chopper scolded her.

She sighs before finally looking over at him. "What did I do wrong? Did I not do enough?" She started crying, which freaked Chopper out as he rushed over to comfort her.

"You did nothing wrong. You did everything you could have possibly done to help. This wasn't your fault." He quickly tried reassuring her.

"Then why doesn't it feel that way? I almost lost him. I could still lose him. I'm scared, Chopper." Chopper wrapped his little arms around her as she sobs.

"I know this is hard, but you have to be strong for Traffy."

She nods and sniffed. "Okay."

Chopper then got serious. "Food and shower." She gets up and glances over at Law's unconscious form. "Don't worry. I'll watch after him until you get back." She nods her thanks as she left.

Flashback ends

A yawn left her lips as she woke from her sleep. Looking around, she noticed it was late as the last rays of light shown through the window. Law was laying his head down resting at his desk. Quietly, Alexis got off the bed she was on, grabbing a blanket before making her way over to him. She gently placed it on his shoulders so she wouldn't wake him. He looked so peaceful in his sleep. Leaning forward, she kissed his cheek. "Rest well, Love." She whispered before moving to check on the red head.
