Sim Hae-Jeong POV

I wore a black crop top and paired it with a black flare skirt and jacket plus some basic sneakers. I'm the type to show a bit of skin but not too much.

I got into a taxi and the driver drove me to the destination

I got into a taxi and the driver drove me to the destination.

"Ni-ki", I called for him once I spotted him at the parking lot
"Hey, are you better now?"
"Yeah, a bit. oh and thanks", I remembered to thank him for saving me, bringing me to the hospital, telling my mom and other stuff
"For what?"he asked innocently
"let's just say everything"
"sure, order what you want. It's on me", Ni-ki said
"If you say so", I replied

We ate and talked about what I missed at school

"Basically Jay and Beomgyu are put on suspension for hosting a party on a school night and also dragging juniors into it"
"Oh no, that's my fault", I felt guilty of what my incident had done
"It's fine, the rest of us got detention for a week. Some were even happy that Jay was out of school for a while. They say he's a jerk"
"Typical rich guy behavior"
"Hey, that's an offence to me", Ni-ki said scoffing in disbelief
"Oh not you, you're different" I smiled "oh how's Eunchae. surprisingly she hasn't texted me"
"Uhm her" he hesitated
"What? is she angry with me or something?"
"Nah, she's fine. If she's being snobbish or angry, do you think you deserve to be friends with her?" he asked
"Uhh, where is all this coming from so suddenly?", I chuckled at his ridiculous question
"Just answer. you don't deserve to be friends with someone who isn't thinking the same way you think about her"
"Ni-ki what's all this about?"
"It's nothing"
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, don't worry about it"
"Uh okay. I won't be in school till like Monday so say hey to her for me and ask her to reply to my messages please"
"Sure"he said

We talked a little more and soon left. Ni-ki drove me home and we had a nice time in the car. He has no idea how grateful I am to him, he always lifts my mood and gives me something better to think about. It was like with him, I didn't have to worry about anything, like all my problems automatically had a solution. I love him very much. As we drove into my compound, a figure was waiting outside the door for me. I said my goodbyes to Ni-ki and went up to the figure.

"What are you staring at?". I said staring into his eyes and walked past him.

I was mad at my family for not even acting like they care about me and my incident. They prioritized their useless reasons over me, they did it all the time but now, it was becoming too much.

"Where are you coming from young lady?" I walked in to meet my father and mother at the dinner table
"Oh so now you care?" I replied
"What kind of attitude are you giving your father". my mom questioned
"I was out", I said and attempted to walk to my room
"Get back here this instant", my dad stopped me on my tracks
"I've already had dinner"
"How could you be so ungrateful?", my mom asked in disgust
"Why should I be grateful? What did you do for me to be thankful to you? Fine! you visited me ONCE and got someone to pick me up from the hospital. Oh wait, I should be thankful you didn't forget me at the hospital?"
"Sim Hae-Jeong!" my dad shouted
"What is it dad? you didn't even show up once. Not even a text message and yet I should be grateful"
"You should be glad I haven't thrown you out of the house for being handicapped. What else are you going to make of your future? Is an athlete still going to be possible for an handicapped person? and it's not as if your grade could help any other profession you choose as a back up. Why can't you be like your brother" he immediately said as Jake walked back into the house "He doesn't attend useless parties and he gets outstanding grades. He's an epitome of someone with a bright future while you just squander your life away with whatever your peers think is cool"
"Sim Junsik, that's enough! You have no right to dim my little angel down. Her injury shouldn't be a reason for her not having a great future", My mom stood up for me "Hae-jeong, go to your room now and rest well".

I fled the scene immediately with tears prepping itself to tinkle down. I went into the bed and put the duvet over me and cried. My dad was right, what else was I going to do without my leg. I can't be a track star again, I have to actually study like the other kids with no physical talent.

"Can I come in?", the voice followed after a knock on my door
"No", I replied but he came in anyways

"What part of no do you not understand?", I said wiping my tears and uncovering myself
"Are you okay?"
"take a guess"
"Don't mind what Dad said, you still have a bright future"
"I'm not you Jake. I don't get good grades and I don't take interest in any other thing than tracks
"That's not true. Hae-jeong you're a talented little star, you just haven't found the perfect place to shimmer"
"Thanks, I'll try to need that" I said rolling my eyes "now go, I need to get some sleep"
"I mean it", he said standing up "oh and I don't think you and Ni-ki should go out again"
"Now you're gonna teach me about my love life? Gosh Jake"
"I'm just saying, there are plenty of other guys who are better"
"Whatever. My love life is mine not yours so mind your business. OUT!" I yelled then he left.
