Shim Jakes' POV

It's been more than an hour since I called Hae-jeong home for dads' important message and mom was getting worried so she decided to go out and wait for her. After a while still no Hae-jeong, I messaged her and all but she won't even check it so I decided to go join mom outside.

Minutes into waiting, a familiar porche pulled in with Heesung again. Hae-jeong went in with mom while I wanted to have a word with him but It was obvious he got the point.

"Relax, I won't meet her again. Tonight was unexpected" he said

Not like he didn't say something like that the last time, I decided to reserve my comment after all he was just being caring.

"Yo Jake" Someone yelled from the car

I decided to take a look but then

"Jake wait!" Heesung called out
"Yeah?" 
"You better head back inside, we kept you waiting and I'm sure you don't want to keep your fa-"

"Oh well, hello there friend" another voice said before placing a pat on my shoulder. Once I recognized the face, I shook out from it.

"Hello guys, I have to go now" I said annoyed yet trying not show it.

I took one more look at Heesung before walking away. My main priority right now was checking if Hae-jeong is okay after all she was in a small space with three older men which one was Jay.

I walked in to meet the food been served by a few of the butlers and my family getting seated.

"What took you so long to come in?" Hae-jeong asked as we sat down
"Saying hi to the guys"
"Oh okay"
"Let's talk later ok" I whispered to her.

"Okay, I called for this meeting because I need to announce an important information to my dear family before the public. After all you all are my first priority.

I watched Hae-jeong roll her eyes at the comment while dad motioned for other workers to leave the room.

"We are making an alliance with a popular enterprise. There will be a party which you all have to attend, no excuse. You get to meet their family and hopefully bond well. Jake you must already know them considering you work as a stock holder to their enterprise".

Wait, it can't be the Shim enterprise can it. That thought ran through my mind. Why would dad need to form an alliance with them. Both companies are doing well enough to be competitors. Why would they decide to form an alliance?

"What's the name of the enterprise?" Mom asked

It was obvious she was fazed by the news which means he hasn't discussed this with anyone

"You all will find out at the party"
"Just say it" Hae-jeong said
"I said the party" giving her a stern look
"It's the Shim enterprise isn't it?" I asked
"At the party" he said raising his voice "now let's focus on the food"
"Is that all you wanted to say?" Hae-jeong asked
"Oh, please be on your best behaviour and corporate outfit please"
"Is that all?" she asked again
"And what if it is?" he asked back
"Then you're unbelievable sir. People had work they had to leave just for a 2 sentence information"
"If you regard that hair business as work then I'd say you're joking with your career" he said placing a piece of food into his mouth without being bothered

Hae-jeong clenched her fist about to retaliate before I placed my hand on hers to indicate for her to stop. The food was eaten in silence and once everyone was done, we all dispersed to our own things.

"You good?" I asked once I entered her room
"I'm not a baby, dads words don't hurt anymore"
"Not that. Earlier with Jay?"
"Oh that, I'm okay. I even forgot about it besides Heesung seemed to be of help"
"Help?"
"Yeah, it was like he knew I wasn't taking Jays' presence well"
"oh, so you're fine?"
"yah. oh and what is it about the alliance?"
"I have no idea, there were rumors at work but hearing it actually happen is a shocker"
"If you're right and it's with the Shims then he meant we should bond with Jay and Sunghoon"
"I guess so, you good?"
"I guess"

I decided to give her space, she already seems like she has had a lot to process today. Thoughts went through my mind as I slid into my sheets. 'Was Hae-jeong really okay with it all?' 'Would she end up figuring out the pieces to her past?' 'Why does dad want to form an alliance at this point?' 'Even so, why the Shims?' 'Is he really going to ignore the fact that Jay can't be put in the same room as his daughter?'

I tried not to think of the last two, besides we weren't sure it was Shim enterprise. I had lots of trouble sleeping so I decided to just check my messages till i finally fall asleep.

Lee Heesung POV

Sunghoon: He seemed cold, I thought we all agreed to leave the past behind
Jay: Isn't that how he always is
"You hurt his sister, what else do you expect?"
Jay: There you go again supporting everyone except your family
"You're not my family"
Jay: Our aunt is still your mother no matter what. Even after divorce or your death by the law we're still related.
"You know you'd make a good lawyer. Oh right, you have a lousy life to pursue it.
Sunghoon: Enough you two!

After that the car ride was silent so I decided to check my messages.

Give me a chance to explain
She was with a friend of mine
I had to leave at the moment
so I convinced her to follow me.

I surfed the internet 
and there was nothing serious.
Although, I think the Shims' want to have a public announcement
and surprisingly, Park family is number one on the guest list
