Warnings: slight fighting with parents; forced married announcement;

"Beca, my dear," I heard my mother call me. "Why don't you come here and join me and your father for a second? We have an important matter to discuss with you."

I closed the book I was previously reading and made my way down the stairs and towards my father's office.

"Oh, good, you're here sweetie!" Father said as I walked inside the room "Have a seat darling, there's something we need to talk to you about."

Worry was creeping up on me, my parents are never this secretive, they're normally pretty straight forward with the things they want to say. Besides, it's never good news when we get all reunited like this. Therefore, considering all the big deal that they're making, being worried was an understanding.

"Sweetie, do you know how me and your mother have been traveling to Outer Banks quite a lot lately?" I nodded "And how I told it was something regarding my work?" I nodded once again "Well, in some way, our travels have been work related, but if I'm being honest, the thing that we were working on concerns you."

"Is this your way of telling me that we are going to move to Outer Banks?" I questioned him.

If I was right, this news wouldn't be as bad as I thought.

"Actually you are!" Father said with excitement.

"What do you mean 'I am'?" Confusion replaced my relief.

"You will be moving to Outer banks, but we won't go with you." He explained.

"Then I will be completely alone?" How could they let me live all by myself in a place which I've never been to?!

"Technically, you won't be completely alone, and that's what we wanted to tell you." Father made a pause to refill his glass of whiskey before he continued "The reason why you won't be all by yourself is because your husband will be there with you and will keep you company."

A loud snort left my throat.

"Father, I think you've mistaken yourself, I don't have a husband." I explained to him "Hell, I'm not even engaged."

"No, dearest, I am not mistaken." He said "Me and your mother were in Outer Banks discussing with the Cameron family about your wedding arrangements."

You've got to be kidding me.

"Next week they'll come here for the wedding ceremony that will occur in our backyard, then, as soon as the celebration is over, the jet will take you both to your new home in Outer Banks." My father explained as if this was the most normal thing in the world. "Oh, and I almost forgot, the details regarding your honeymoon you can discuss with Rafe whenever you want, just let us know."

I was paralyzed, words were stuck in the back of my throat, and all I could do was stare at my parents as if they were some type of seven-headed monster, although, through my point of view, they weren't far from it right now.

"How could you do this to me?" I managed to choke out.

"Sweetie, please don't exaggerate." My mother spoke.

"Exaggerate?" She must be joking "You know how big of a deal marriage is to me! How I always dreamed about marrying someone I love, about having my dream proposal, about being all excited while planning and everything!" I raised my voice at them "But you two are ruining all that from me, and for what?! For some stupid work agreement that involves money."

"Dearest, you got to understand-" father began to say before I interrupted him

"No, father, there's no way you thought you would tell me that you've arranged for me to marry a man that I've never seen my entire life and expect me to be cool with it." I was in the verge of tears at this point "How could you do this to me, fuck you both-"

"Rebecca, that's enough!" Father raised his voice "You will go to your room now, recompose yourself and wait with your mother for the dress designer to arrive. End of discussion."

I slowly nodded and silently made my way to my room, doing as father had told me.

I don't know why I was acting so surprised, knowing my parents, this marriage has probably been on their bucket list since I was born. For them, everything is business, and all they care about is money and social status.

Fighting with them would be useless, therefore, there was nothing left for me to do expect doing exactly as I was being told, keeping our perfect family mask.

The week went by pretty fast.

My parents filled me with dress fittings, dinner meetings, guest selection, anything that would keep me occupied for long enough for me not to confront them regarding the upcoming wedding. Which I kept planning to do the whole week, but didn't get to until the day before the ceremony.

I waited for about an hour before my parents returned from their event.

"Rebecca," my mother called me, once she noticed me standing in the living room "what are you still doing up Dear, your should be resting by now, you must look your absolute best tomorrow."

"You guys cannot expect me to go through with this, please don't make me do this!" I cried, letting out all of the emotions I had kept to myself since they let me know about the wedding "Father, mother, please I beg you, don't make me do it, you really want me to live unhappy for the rest of my life?!"

"Rebecca Golden, stop with this humiliation right this instant!" Father's voice was stern "You will go to your room right now and sleep. Tomorrow, at 11 a.m, the beauty staff as well as the photographers will be here for the Big Day!" His voice softened "And you'll be the most beautiful bride that the world has ever seen, was I clear dearest?"

"Crystal." I answered before going upstairs to my room to rest.

Tomorrow was a Big Day after all.
