Dark. Cold. Cramped. Pain.

How long was I here for...?

She wondered, her eyes opening and taking in her surroundings. Not that it was easy by any means. It was pitch black. She took shaky breaths as she claws scraped the ground and make a sickening screeching sound. Blowing some fire to have a light source, she noticed that there were shackles around her wrists that attached to a link on the floor.

She tried clawing off the bindings but it was rendered useless. Damned Animus. She tried recalling the events that happened in her mind. She saw flashes, some of them blurring out the face of dragons, or muffling their voices. For some reason, she knew they were yelling at her.

"Freak!"

"Insolent!"

"Scourge of Pyrrhia!"

Whimpering at the sudden memories, she remembered her parents looking down on her with disgust and shame. "You're a monster!" Someone else screamed. She whimpered and ducked her head down. But as her snout grazed her claws, she could smell one thing.

Blood. So much of it.

She knew that sour smell anywhere.

Looking down at her talons, she approached her snout and sniffed each claw carefully, smelling the tiniest hints of dried blood that seem to have almost fused with her scales because they've been there for so long.

The dragon squinted their eyes to see how much of the crimson liquid remained, but there was a loud rumbling sound that shook her confinement. She shielded herself with her wings and ducked her head as the sound grew louder, then abruptly stopped.

Light poured into the room and her eyes squinted in reaction to the sudden change. "Oh my goodness!" A voice said. "Are you alright?" Looking up, she noticed a Nightwing. They were wearing armor and had pure black scales with stars dotting their wings. "Y-yes." Her voice sounded more hoarse than she thought.

"How long have you been down here?" They asked, fumbling froward to free her. "I... Do not know." "Well thank the Moons I found you when I did. We need to get you some help." Her breath was shaky as the guard helped her stand up. She was so weak that she leaned onto the other dragon for support.

"How and why were you in there?" They asked again, getting her out of the cave. "I... I don't remember. It's been far too long..." The guard sighed and sat her down on a large rock to rest and reached back towards the pouch with water. "My name's Truthseeker. What's yours?"

She smiled. "My name is Astraea. It is a pleasure to meet you."
