"Maka! You're going to run late!" Her father screamed as she got the last of her belongings in a school bag and began to run to the door. "Almost done papa!" Her father worked as a consultant for the Leafwing architect and her mother had gone on a buisness trip to the Skywings to discuss foresting plans. The Skywing queen, Queen Cielo and the Leafwing queen, Queen Birch were looking to expand the forest at the base of the mountains and needed her mother's advice.
As Maka's claw was on the handle, she heard her father call her name. "Yeah?" "Don't forget your breakfast!" He shoulded, tossing her a piece of cow he had finished cooking. "Thanks papa, I'm off!" She lifted her wings and rushed out the door, but as she left, she looked back and saw a random dragon, looked to be a Seawing, going into their small leafy hut.
She rolled her eyes. Great. She thought, already knowing what would transpire. I thought he loved me and mama. The school was at the Kingdom of Night, not too far from their house since there was a forest nearby. Makahiya was a gifted Leafspeaker and her plants thrived -- a bit too much for her liking though -- and she was able to sustain them with fruits and veggies.
The school sat at the edge of the water and had a huge library attached. One of her favorite spots to be during her pass time. The school soon came into view and Maka unwrapped the meat and took a small bite from it. She learned from a past experience that it was a bad idea to hear a cow leg on the fly because she'd cramp. she had almost crash-landed last time she ate while flying. Ever since, she'd take small bites and save her strength.
As she got closer, more and more dragons began to appear in her vision. Dragons from all tribes were mingling and having pleasant conversations. Maka had one main friend, a Nightwing called Blackstar who she grew up with since he was orphaned and her mother worked at the school at the time the Academy adopted him and took him in.
Pyrrhian's elite academy for dragons of all storts going into different professions. The school was named Drakonian Way of Mastery Academy, or DWMA for short.
It had many different classes for different tribes and talents. Classes for the Beetlewings for their venom and silk spinning, classes for the Skywings and combat, classes for Rainwings and camouflage and venom, classes for Mudwings and strength, classes for Icewings and their Forstbreath, classes for Sandwings and their tail anatomy and how to survive in the desert, classes for Seawings and Aquatic, and classes for Nightwings who want to become assassins. Blackstar was going to be the assassin that 'surpasses the Animi'. Or that's what he claims.
Blackstar was very strong and confident and was a great friend. He was always reliable in a pinch and loved to hang out with his friends. And one other thing...
She hadn't even noticed he snuck up behind her until he had his iconic laugh echoing through her ears. "Maka! I've been following you forever and you haven't noticed my greatness! I must be the greatest assassin ever! YAAAHOOO!"
Egotistical. Blackstar was very egotistical.
"Hey, Blackstar." She greeting while evidently rolling her eyes. His eyes were big and blue and he was pure black with some scales of white here and there. There was a engraving of a star on his right shoulder, a sign from the Star Clan which was his family, but they had died a long time ago. "What are you up to? You'll be late for class." So was she, actually. But she won't bring it up. "Assassin Division is cancelled today, the teacher came down with a nasty cold and will be out of commission for the next week or so. There are substitutes, but nothing special. Which sucks because now I have nothing to do!"
He sighed but then a brilliant idea filled his blue eyes "could I go to your class?" "No. You'll distract me and I doubt you'd want to hear me talking to plants." "What if you skip?" She shook her head "every lesson is important." "Go to the bathroom for a long time?" "Horrible idea." "Pretend to be sick?" "Can't." During this back and forth, Makahiya had broken a part of the leg and gave it to Blackstar for him to eat. She also began to munch on it occasionally.
