Chapter 19: Secret's Out

The sound of a heart monitor beeping was the first thing I heard through my ringing ears. I groaned as I weakly opened my eyes, my vision blurry as my head was pounding. My body felt like it was made out of lead and buried underneath concrete.

However, once my vision finally cleared up I was shocked to see the Iron Fist was hovering above me.

I gasped and started to panic on the inside but I immediately calmed down once I felt his hand gently caress my cheek.

"Don't worry. It's ok now. You're alright." He said in that sweet zen voice of his.

"W-where... am I? What... happened?.." I tired to think back but doing so only caused my already pounding head to ache even more.

"Shhh, just relax. You're alive now. That's all that matters. I was so afraid... I thought I was going to lose you.." He sighed as he lowered his head. "I'm so sorry... I didn't think... I could cause you to almost lose your life..." He muttered out, his voice cracking a little.

My eyes widen once I realized that the calm and collected hero was now crying as he held me close and hugged me tightly.

I don't remember what happened. I was so confused. But whatever it was that upset him so much, I couldn't worry about that right now. All I could do was hug him back as best as I could.

"I'll never let that happen ever again." He whispered under his breath as I felt his tears drop down onto my shoulder.

Hearing him cry even started to make me cry. "I'm sorry... I don't know what happened... but I hate I can't remember. And if I hurt you in anyway, I'm so sorry! I never ever wanted to-"

He placed his finger over my lips and lifted his head up to smile at me. "I knew that deep down you were still in there. No matter how much power controls you, you'll always remain Aria. And to think... I almost had to say goodbye without telling you the truth."

"The truth?.. What do you mean?.." I asked as I looked at him confused.

He smiled and slowly lifted his hand up, reaching for his mask. I gasped and my eyes widen once I realized where this was going. I grabbed his hand to stop him and looked up at him worried. "Are you sure?..."

"I'm certain. I've been wanting to tell you for a long time now." He gently held my hand and resumed to take off his mask.

I blushed as my eyes widen in shock as he shook his blond hair out once his mask was off. And my eyes almost popped out of my head when I got a good look at his face.

"D-DANNY?!" I shouted in shock.

Now way... my two crushes... were the same guy! It was shocking news... but also.. I feel like I kinda knew deep down. They both acted and sounded the same. How did I not piece them together?! That... and at least now I don't have to choose between the two.

Wait a minute... all those times I've kissed Iron Fist before and the times he kissed my hand... THAT WAS ALL DANNY?! The memories and thoughts made my face instantly turn red. I had already kissed my crush and I didn't know it!

"I've wanted to tell... I really did. And I don't blame you if you are mad by this secret. I just figured that you-"

I cut him off as I hugged him tightly, losing all feelings of embarrassment. "This... I don't even know what to say..."

His tense body relaxed and instantly hugged me back. "Then don't say anything. Let actions speak louder than words. For instance..." He smiled as he lifted my chin up with his thumb, gently brushing over my lips.

I immediately started blushing red once again as he leaned in closer, his lips inches from mine until I felt them kissing me. His lips felt smooth like the other times from before. But this time.. felt more special.
